Backdrop Alley BAM12BK Solid Muslin Background (10 x 12', Black)
The Black 10 x 12' Muslin Backdrop from Backdrop Alley is made of the highest quality muslin cloth. It has a 4" hem on top and bottom, with five eyelets on the top edge for hanging the backdrop from a crossbar. There is also a pole pocket for even easier hanging.
Colors depicted may vary slightly, due to differences in computer monitors, printed media, and variances in manufacturer's fabrics, dyes or paints.

This 10x12 black backdrop serves the purpose well. It's made from a lightweight material that appears to be well made. I thought it would be a little heavier material, but will do the job. There are eyelets along the shorter side to make it easy to hang onto an extension rod, which are nice. My only sort-of complaint is that they should have also included it on the long-side as well for more versatility. But it is a fairly minor point.
Otherwise, I am pleased with the purchase. Be sure and get the material steamed out/ironed to remove the creases from the the fold. I would then roll it up in perhaps a pvc pipe or something to try and keep the creases from reappearing.
I would buy this product again. It works really well with the BACKGROUND SUPPORT SYSTEM (12') w/BAG.

I bought this backdrop because the Impact ones were Temporarily unavailable. They are just OK. My biggest disappointment is that they are thinner than I want. I bought two and I needed to hang one over a window in my home studio and want it to block light as well as serve as a great black background. The window light comes through it because it is so thin. That does not happen with the Impact brand. I am also not real crazy about the grommets. I don't need them as I use the pocket side for hanging and now I just have to photoshop out the grommets...not a big deal, but I would rather not have them. I have put my name on the list to be notified when the Impact brand are back in stock. I will turn these into my "traveling" backdrops and keep the Impact for in studio use. Would not buy this brand again.

This is the perfect backdrop for any studio to have. It is heavy enough to not show through, yet light enough to be very portable. Wrinkles from shipping and from the factory comes out on their own within a few hours of hanging suspended.

The backdrop has grommets on one end and a pole pocket on the other. This is a great feature that more expensive drops do not offer, and made up for my one complaint, it is thin.
The drop dyed a rich black, however, it is definitely on the thin side as far as backdrops go, but for the price this can be overlooked. You just have to be careful not to have any lighting (ceiling or other) behind, or it will show through.

If you want a black background that is portable this is it. Cleaning is easy and the grommets make it possible to hang on a wall without needing a backdrop support system. The fabric absorbs light very well so if you need solid black this will work nicely.

Everything you need, and expect, from a backdrop. One side has grommets to hang the backdrop from nails or what have you (none of my other muslin backdrops have this, I not a bad addition). Opposite side is sewn to allow for poles like the JTL portable system that I use.
There is no reflection of light or color gradation/variation unless metered/exposed for it. The material does not feel cheap or flimsy. Handled numerous children and adults in a very short amount of time with walking on it, setting up and taking down, storing and pulling it out. Cleaned off very nicely (they weren't wearing shoes so it's not like they were tracking mud over it).
Couldn't ask for more from a black backdrop. I'm very satisfied.

I sometimes have to shoot models in various outfits, and I tended to shoot against white backgrounds before. I have owned the white version of this background for over a year and I decided to try black for a change. It is the same high quality fabric as the white one, and I like it. It is machine washable, relatively easy to fold up and put away, and has several holes to assist in hanging it from the background stand.
My only gripe is that, since it is a cotton-based fabric, it allows a little bit of light to spill through it from the other side if you are not careful with your setup.
Highly recommended, though!
