I love this bag.
I use this bag not only as a Camera bag, it is also my purse. I take it everywhere I go and I love it. It is big enough to carry all my daily essentials and my camera gear, but small enough to go everywhere with me. Small enough that I never smack someone in the face with my backpack as I am manouvering around people and things to take photos.
This bag is designed to make the camera accessable without having to take it off- and quickly, too. This feature is great if you just want to grab your camera, but if you need to change lenses or filters or get to anything in the bag besides the camera- I would recommend taking the bag off- which is also very quick and easy due to a large clip on bottom of the strap.
When you open it sideways in the "sling" position to get to items stored in other compartments, it is possible that things could fall out of the bag if you unzip it all the way. Though, there are clips on the sides of the bag that make it impossible for the zippers to slip or for the bag to open fully unexpectedly- and dump your gear onto the ground.
I live in the Pacific Northwest, and I often worry about my gear getting wet. This bag comes equipped with an "All-Weather Cover" or rain fly, that, when not in use is stored in a small, velcro sealed pouch at the bottom of the bag. A waterproof material (probably polypropeline or some other plastic) that is treated with a water resistant oil (kindof like RainEx for car windows) Pulls out of the hidden pocket- where it is sewn to the bag at one end- and an elastic edge helps the cover to quickly and eaisly protect and cover the whole face of the bag.
Very nice.
When I first started to use the bag, I found that it didn't hold most of the random junk I carried around with me in my purse. I had to downsize, but the result is a well organized, practical utility for daily use.
In the main compartment, I carry:
-DSLR camera with a medium sized zoom lens
-2 filters
-Air blower, brush, cleaning supplies
-Flash diffuser
-White Balance lens cover
-Memory cards in the memory card pocket
There is also a built in LCD microfiber cleaning cloth that is sewn into a small mesh pocket- so you can never, ever lose it. Mine, however, leaves fuzz on my lenses so I never really use it.
Not much equipment. I think that I could easily rearrange the padded compartments to fit an external flash and a wide angle lens instead of all the little accessories I carry.

In the front pocket, I carry:
-Wallet
-Pocket knife
-Makeup, Chapstick
-2 pens
This is a small organizer pocket with a few smaller pockets inside. You could easily fit a lens pen in one of the pen-sized pockets.

In the top compartment, I carry:
-Memory card case
-Gloves
-Battery Charger
-Notepad
-Bandana
There is a small mesh pocket sewn into the back of this compartment that is good for small or delicate items.

This is a fairly small camera bag, but very efficient for casual, daily use, or for someone is on the go and doesn't want to fuss with too much camera equipment. Absolutely perfect for documentary photographers.
This bag is well made with durable materials. All zippers have dust covers. This bag is also comfortable- since it doesn't hold too much, it is never too heavy. One thing I often worry about with sling backpacks is that my one shoulder will get sore and I will be unable to switch the weight onto my other shoulder.
I have never had this problem with this bag.
The only thing I don't like about it is that since I am a small girl, I tighten the strap pretty far- and there is ALOT of extra slack leftover. Lowepro thought of this too- there is an elastic band around the strap near the clip in which I fold up all the extra slack and secure to the strap itself- so its not flailing around. I am considering cutting the strap much shorter and sewing the edge so that I don't have to deal with the extra material.
Also, since the camera compartment has dual zippers, I have a combination lock attached so that I can make it pick-pocket proof.
Perfect for Travel.
AND, it has accessory straps that fit any Lowepro accessory lens cases or pouches- I use a Tenba case that fits OK, also. Anything that has a belt loop will attach to this bag.

I purchased this product to hold my Nikon D80 with an 18-70mm lens. It was a tight fit but it worked. When I tried to fit my 70-300mm lens things did not go so well. I returned the bag [...] and purchased the Slingshot 200 AW which is a much better fit. Overall both bags have great build quality and I have already done some mountain climbing with the 200. The water bottle holder is a great accessory for this bag.

Comments about Lowepro SlingShot 100 AW Camera Bag (Black):

This bag is very small and uncomfortable to wear. This may just be a personal preference, but the one-shoulder design hit me in a terrible place on my collarbone. If you're looking for a bag for a SMALL lens and very few accessories, this might suit your needs. It does come with a really nice waterproof rain cover that tucks away tidily.

Comments about Lowepro SlingShot 100 AW Camera Bag (Black):

Love this pack for a DSLR (mine is a D90) with a fairly short lens and one other mid size lens. I bought this sight unseen knowing I would likely return it because I have not been able to find a pack suitable for running with my photo gear. This pack allows me to run with a the gear I mentioned above plus a Cokin P filter holder, 5 filters, an Expodisc, and a few other odds and ends PLUS a micro tripod, which attaches to the pack via the rubber coated straps on the front.

My longest run with the pack is 6 miles but it was still comfortable and it does not bounce much at all as long as the small strap is used to cinch the cross strap tight. The pack holds tight to your body this way.

Have not used the AW cover yet but admire how clever the idea is. In fact the entire design is clever.

Down side is that the largest lens I can use is a nikkor 24-70 2.8 so I can not bring along my 70-200 but if you are not doing work requiring a long lens and you don't need to bring along a picnic, you will love this pack.

Just fits a D700 and 24-70mm zoom- that's good because it is a very compact case, but it's just a tad tight. I am able to carry the above mentioned camera, a 50mm fixed lens, the D900 flash and asst accesories.

Very handy though, carries well and is low key and inconspiciuous.
I will probably also buy one of the bigger model cases in order to carry a few more things.

I bought this bag to carry an SLR, three (short) prime lenses, a point & shoot, and accessories (cell phone, wallet, filters, hoods, batteries) for more active outings (e.g., hiking and biking) during a vacation to Hawaii. All items fit with no problems.

That said, this is a small bag and will not fit bigger zooms on camera. A smaller zoom like 17-40 mounted on camera will fit but any bigger will cause you to reconsider and rearrange the other lenses and accessories you take.

I prefer this bag to my others for outdoor activities because (1) it rides securely and comfortably on my back and (2) the side zipper makes it much easier to access the camera with taking off the bag.

I bought this bag just before a trip to Alaska specifically because it is easy to get on and off with the main strap, but secure enough for bicycling and canoeing when the second strap is pulled out and attached. The rain cover was a major plus - I definitely used it!

I use it with a Nikon D50 with a 28-80mm lens; my 300mm and a teleconverter fit in the divided sections. It's a tight fit, but I can even put the camera in the main section with the 300mm attached. The ability to sling it around and open the side is great for quickly changing lenses. I can get lenses in and out of the divided sections with only the side flap open.

A feature I just discovered: the pocket that holds the rain cover actually goes most of the way up the back of the bag. It's flat, but big enough to hold the camera manual. It would also make a great place to hide small valuables.

Comments about Lowepro SlingShot 100 AW Camera Bag (Black):

Great bag design for purposed photo trips - purposed in a sense that you can only fit basic things and may not carry all the gear for those "don't know what you might come across" kinds of trips. You'll have to get a bigger bag for that. Has VERY unreliable zipper pulls that come apart very easily. Had to get replacement camping bag zipper pulls from Academy. Easy fix. As long as you're aware of that, this bag is pretty good. Emailed Lowepro about it and for some reason they can't come down from their cloud and admit that they have inferior-quality pulls. Great quick side swing design, works great.

Purchased this bag to consolidate our Digital SLR, a second lens and our camcorder. Works great to have all items easily accessible when necessary. You can configure the inside to the sizes you need based on cameras/lenses, etc. Took a few tries to figure out how to wear it, but once we figured it out it's been fantastic

[...] With that said, this is better suited to men because as you swing this bag to the front breasts tend to get in the way and you CANNOT carry a purse with it. otherwise its a great bag and has a ton of room for random stuff.

Love this bag. I fit my new canon 50D with 17-55 2.8 IS USM lens (attached), lens hood (unattached of course), battery charger, Black Rapid RS-5 strap, usb cable and camera manual in it on a recent trip from Hawaii to the East Coast. Protected my equipment perfectly.

My lens mentioned above is probably the longest lens that will fit into this bag. Lens measures 4.4 inches.

I got the slingshot for my E50D and it fits perfect with smaler lenses on.
Especially for quick action with family and dog its a great solution.
The only little problem is that when I have the 80 300 lens on its a little too long to fit in.

Comments about Lowepro SlingShot 100 AW Camera Bag (Black):
