I bought this item because I was tired of having the shoulder strap from my reporter's-style bag dig into my shoulder after 30-40 minutes of use. The strap on this bag is comfortable and provides a relatively even distribution of weight.
Basically, the bag provides the comfort of a backpack with the easy access allowed by a shoulder-bag. But it is _not_ as comfortable as a backpack or provide as easy access as a shoulder bag.
Most of the reviews already posted here are exactly on target. Here's some additional information that I wish I had read when I was considering this item:
1. The bag can accommodate a Canon 1-series body (1V, in my case) with power drive booster (PB-E2) and a Canon f/4 L 70-200 mm lens attached. This combination will fit in the bag's 'default configuration'. (I.e.: In the main pocket, and in the main slot as allowed by the factory-configured dividers.)
When this camera/lens combo are in the bag, there is very slight tension in the bag's walls such that the zippers are _slightly_ difficult to close. But only slightly! In fact, when I rest the bag on a table top while loading it, I don't even notice anything. However, when I put this camera/lens combo back in the compartment while I'm wearing the bag, it's a two-handed operation to get the zipper closed. (One hand to create 'slack' in the bag's walls, the other to operate the zipper.) The resistance is such that it doesn't make me worry about stress on the zipper--it only takes away from the bag's easy-in/easy-out operation.
2. When the 70-200 lens is not on the camera body and is being stored in the bag, it still fits in an adjacent divider compartment. It's a little awkward, but it works.
3. When the bag is in the 'ready' position (in front of you), it actually makes for a convenient, steadying armrest for your left elbow. This is a nice feature.
4. If you're thinking about moving from a shoulder-strap reporter's bag to a Slingshot, consider this: lens swaps are more difficult with the Slingshot. With a 'conventional' bag, I can open the top flap and immediately have access to _all_ of my lenses. The conventional bag also serves as an ad hoc table while I swap the lenses on/off the body.
Perhaps such a gear swap is possible with the Slingshot, but it definitely isn't as easy. I found myself having to sit down, open up the bag, perform the swap, and then zip the bag back up. If you work events where you need to make frequent lens swaps and there aren't any convenient surfaces around, you may miss your old reporter's bag.
Also, you need to _unzip_ something to get into the bag. This is different from a reporter's style bag when you only have to undo a quick-release buckle or two to release the flap. Therefore, the bag may not be suitable for shooting quiet locations.
5. This bag only works when the strap is on your left shoulder. You cannot reverse it and wear it on your right shoulder. (Well, maybe you could, but the gear access panel would be facing the ground.)

I used the bag to carry digital SLR with 2 lens and a variety of accessories. The bag is more than adequate for that load. It has enough straps to stabilize the load on your back, and as advertised, allows you to swing the bag to your front, without taking it off, to access your equipment.
I wish for two improvements:
1. A way to switch shoulders; it can only be used on your right shoulder. It hurts my shoulder after 30 minutes.
2. A water bottle carrier

I recently bought this bag to carry my backup camera and equipment for a wedding I was shooting. The bag was light weight, easily accessible, and after the 8 hours, my back didn't hurt at all.
I highly recommend this bag. It is great. So is B&H!

Comments about Lowepro SlingShot 200 AW Camera Bag (Black):
This bag is great for comfortably carrying your camera accessories when you need your hands and are in close quarters. It is behind you, out of the way and comfortably on your back when you don't need it, and swings around quickly and easily when you do. There seems to be a pouch for everything; main lens on camera, zoom lens, macro lens, wide aperture, flash, SD's, cables, batteries... I even carry my binoculars and mini-camcorder! My daughter dances and I was at every competition trying to wrestle with my camera gear or trying to pick one lens when I knew I would need two or three... plus it is padded and sturdy. Now I bring it all! Thank you Lowepro!

Just got it a few weeks back and it is more than expected. Construction is great, it's a little bigger than expected, but me being a small guy (5'7") is still confortable to use. The water cover is great.

I'm packing a D300S with 18-200mm lens attached. Also a flash and a wide angle lens. Will be able add another lens. Plenty of room for that big Nikon manual and cables and charger. Using the bag for out of country trips. Easy to use and so far very comfortable. Will use a smaller Lowepro topload for local day trips when I don'thave carry lots of accessories.

I ride my bike a lot in the city, so I wanted something I could sling over and get my camera out quickly. Its much faster than a bookbag and to me, it feels more sesure. It also has a second strap with clasp to keep the bag from moving too much. Easy access, a lot of storage for my lenses, accessories, and it isnt shown in the pictures, it has a built in rain cover.

I have a Canon 40D and I have plenty of room for my body with lens attached and 2 additional lenses. Perfect for my needs; not too bulky but not too tight. I have plenty of room for accessories, and the sling design makes it so easy to grab my camera with ease and quickness! Also, the little things with this bag are what make it a necessity...the built in micro fiber cloth and stowed-away all-weather cover...genius!

Comments about Lowepro SlingShot 200 AW Camera Bag (Black):
I use this bag as general storage for all my gear as well as take it with me on vacation or outings. This bag easily holds 4 lenses and I even think that may be room in the future for a flash in the top compartment. While I am used to a backpack the sling approach is intuitive and allows for very easy access to my camera. I also like the sling swing to the front when you need to sit down on a bench or a bus when we go on vacation. Very pleased.

Recently got a new DSLR and needed a new bag to go with it. This new Slingshot 200AW is so convenient. Just like the pictures show, you can carry the camera with an attached lens, then carry a couple of more lenses, plus your flash and other gear! It's so comfortable to carry over your shoulder, and extremely easy to slide it around front of you and grab your camera out of the side access! I'm impressed with the durable construction and the protection for all the gear inside! Plus, there's many little pockets, and the pull-out rain-coat is just cool!

Although we will still use the smaller camera bags we will use the Slingshot 200 for the times we want to bring everything. It easily fits the D90 with the 2 lenses we have, the external flash and our camcorder.

Comments about Lowepro SlingShot 200 AW Camera Bag (Black):
The bag will do you well if you travel and prefer to carry several (no more than three, however) lenses with you. It has several smaller cubby-holes and pockets for your filters or other small equipment. It will acomodate only one large photolens if that's what you use. The camera grip space is slightly cramped with my Nikon D300s but OK.
