Comments about JVC KA551U Tripod Adapter Plate:
It is very easy to install and use.It is
made of solid material not just cheap plastic.
The video camera is now firmly secured to
the tripode. Unfortunatly we droped the tripod
and broke some of the securing knobs. We
just couldn't stop laughing-just our luck.
However, its is overpriced for just a mounting plate.

Comments about JVC KA551U Tripod Adapter Plate:
This adapter was a must for my JVC GY HM 700. That particular camera is both a shoulder mount and tripod based camera, so having the quick un-attach feature is fantastic when you want to move from tripod shots to shoulder shots quickly. Easy to use, strong, trust worthy, reliable. It is pricey but when it is the only thing attaching your camera to the tripod you are going to want quality!

I think everyone out here know how I use this product:)
Great cause it does what it needs to do, support the camera.
The only thing bad is the price. Very expensive considering what it does.

Comments about JVC KA551U Tripod Adapter Plate:
The quality of this plate is great. Using this plate is much more secure than a normal camera plate and is quicker to take off and put on. Also allows balancing the camera on the tripod once and being able to repeat the position without adjustment.

What more can I say? A professional, well-built tripod plate. The camera locks in with a positive click, and the plate holds it tight until you move the silky-smooth release lever.

Comments about JVC KA551U Tripod Adapter Plate:
I only had the tripod plate on the bottom of the camera and it was very shaky. I bought this for the JVC-HD GY-100 camera and it is much more secure. The camera really needed the back lock but the later models added that feature. I would have given it 5 stars but it is not as good as Sony's.

Comments about JVC KA551U Tripod Adapter Plate:
I bought this plate to go with a used HD-100 where the previous owner had been using the original (shady) mounting holes. I have several HD-100s and it is a must for quick mounting and a better sense of security when using on my Jony Jib or Glidecam.

Works great, allows balancing of the camera. Nice audible click for comfort when setting the camera.
Way, way overpriced. But what else can one do?

Comments about JVC KA551U Tripod Adapter Plate:
Aside from adding a solid mounting for my 2 HD-100s, the tripod adapter plates gives you more flexibility in finding a proper balancing point for the camera. Especially good for run and gun for quick mounting/de-mounting. I understand why JVC made it an option as to allow more people to access their products by helping to lower the cost point of the camera but it really is a must for the professional.

Comments about JVC KA551U Tripod Adapter Plate:
I had been using my JVC HD110 for over a year mounted on my tripod with a couple spare manfrotto tripod plates and receivers. I needed to do this since I had hanging off the back of the JVC a IDX battery system and a Focus enhancement's DTE drive. On the front of the camera is my ME66 shotgun mic and rode fuzzy. needless to say the camera did not balance well where the 1/3 tripod mount thread was. So I had to balance out the camera with several tripod plates bolted from one to another. It balanced but there was always a little give between each piece of metal. At full zoom it gave a little extra bounce and wiggle that I'm trying to minimize.
So I got the plate. It works, pretty sold. Much more solid than my former setup. There is no clear way to secure the back end of the camera to the tripod plate which is unfortunate, however a small beanbag will help to dampen any vibration coming off the back of the camera.
If you are planning on an JVC HD110, just order the JVC HD200 instead. It comes with the tripod plate AND an AB battery system. Either item alone will increase the cost of a HD110 up to nearly the price of a HD200, so really it's a no brainer. The 200 series cameras also lock in at the front AND the rear of the tripod plate.
You can live without the plate, but you will be happier if you had it. If you are planning on buying a HD110, you will be better off spending the $500 more for a HD200 and getting the included tripod plate and AB battery system.
Now if only IDX or AB would add something to their battery systems to lock into the back of the tripod plate!

Comments about JVC KA551U Tripod Adapter Plate:
I just purchased a JVC HD200 w/ Anton Bauer TrimPac 14 battery. The battery makes the camera very back heavy and it was hard to balance on my Vinten tripod, so that's why I purchased the adapter plate. Overall the plate seems well made and durable and easy to use. It certainly balanced out the camera on my tripod. At [$] it seems a little steep...but in the end it does the job.
