The Panasonic Rock-DVX-ZFI by Varizoom is a zoom/focus/iris rocker controller designed specifically for the Panasonic AG-HVX200 and AG-DVX100B camcorders. The rocker is pressure-sensitive for fine-tuned zoom adjustments, while the focus and iris knobs, located on the sides, provide clean and easy operation. Most notably is the ability to operate each function simultaneously. Multiple users can control individual aspects of the rocker, which can be very useful during crane or moving shots.

Comments about Panasonic/Varizoom RockDVXZFI Rocker Controller:
Use with Panasonic AG-HMC80 video camera on tripod for indoor assignments. Usually camera is high on tripod in a very dark environment. The remote control provides operation/adjustment without touching camera. This avoids shake and case noise transfer. In low light situations, having the controller within easy reach makes adjustment oh so simple.
Great to be able to zoom, focus and adjust iris all at the same time for quick transitions.
I haven't found anything that isn't great. Several people have mentioned zoom drift. I haven't experienced that and there is a way to adjust for it if it happens. The user guide explains it clearly.

Comments about Panasonic/Varizoom RockDVXZFI Rocker Controller:
I've been doing a lot of long, tripod mounted shoots as of late, and this little gem has been wonderful to use. No more reaching up onto the camera to adjust anything! Been a real strain-saver on my back and shoulders. Like other reviews though I agree that the right angle plugs are hard to get hooked up at times.

Comments about Panasonic/Varizoom RockDVXZFI Rocker Controller:
I already had one of these which this new unit will replace. The plug was faulty in the first unit, which I bought in Australia. [...]the manufacturers were very helpful and, unless I returned the unit, leaving me without one, they would not do anything ie the would only fix the part, not replace it. Im hoping this one lasts a little longer. Apart from that, its a very smooth control which is a necessity for anyone using a shoulder mount. Ive used it in helicopters, on boats and many other testing conditions and think its great!

Comments about Panasonic/Varizoom RockDVXZFI Rocker Controller:
I use this controller to operate a Panasonic HVX200 on a boom, it works well for controlling focus, aperture, and zoom. The only drawback with it is that the plugs are L-shaped making it hard to plug them into the camera. When I use it on the boom I have an extension cable to give me the length needed to connect to the camera and the L-shape plugs become a non-issue.

Used it with HPX-170 mounted on a jib. Really worked well, should have gotten this a long time ago. Better control over focus and iris then the on camera controls.

Comments about Panasonic/Varizoom RockDVXZFI Rocker Controller:
Good controller, the fact you can control zoom, focus and iris is very useful, You can even use it as a follow focus.
I'm an events videographer and without this device, controlling the camera in some situation is really hard.
The only bad this is that this device is not compatible with other equipement I have with the lan c connection.

Comments about Panasonic/Varizoom RockDVXZFI Rocker Controller:
Because the mini plugs are "L" shaped.. they are difficult to insert into their prospective jacks on the Panasonic HVX200a camera. Might work great on another camera. can't say. OH and the arm mount: two big brass nuts on thin threaded rods is kind of amatuerish. [...]

Comments about Panasonic/Varizoom RockDVXZFI Rocker Controller:
The Rock-DVX-ZFI makes shooting so much easier. It has the rocker for wide/zoom control, dials for manual focus and iris, switches to go between manual and auto focus and iris, and rec start/stop all within inches of your tripods handle. No more reaching around and fumbling for controls which used to lead to unwanted motion of the camera. Even if you don't have a Panasonic DVX you still need to find one that works for your camera, you won't regret it.
