First the mixer...Great piece of gear. The pres are extremely quiet and offer a lot of gain. As a one-man audio department for the most part, I am very happy with the quality of the limiters. I especially love that the output limiters are adjustable. I was very surprised by how small the mixer is, but the depressible knobs make operation less clumsy than one might think. The 302 is a great investment. While I can't speak for all of the less expensive brands, I have used a PSC mixer in the past and I can say that the difference in quality is very obvious.

Now the accessories...The breakaway cable is sooo nice to have. This statement is probably obvious to most that are involved in audio for video, but if you're like me and have tried to avoid the cost of a breakaway cable with a couple of xlr's, a headphone extension, and a ton of gaffer's tape, take my word for it-a real breakaway cable will make your life much better. The bag is...well...it's a bag. But it's the perfect size for the 302, a recorder, a couple of wireless receivers, and any other accessories. The harness makes long shoots much more comfortable. Not completely necessary, but nice to have.

Overall this B&H kit is a great way to start your professional field audio kit. The keystone of the kit, the 302, is a great piece of gear on its own. While the accessories may not be totally necessary, they are definitely recommended.
