Quantum Instruments CZ Cable for Canon Flashes
The Quantum Instruments CZ Dedicated Module connection cable will allow a Turbo series battery pack to power a Canon 430EZ, 480G, 540EZ, 550EX, 580EX, 580EX II, MT-24EX & MR-14EX flash.
Note! To use a Turbo-type battery pack with the Canon 580EX II flash, you will have to disable Flash Custom Function #01 on the flash.

I use the cable with the Quantum Turbo battery pack. I do publicity photography and this comes in handy as NiMH batteries just dont cut it alone. The only small con I could give would be it doesnt lock on the battery pack like the Battery pack 1+ but it s small quibble.

Kind of hard to write an exciting review about a cable. It does its job. The plug is a very tight fit, and it's an effort to wrench it out of the flash head, but better that than have it falling out. I'm very happy with the combo of this cable with the Turbo SC and strongly recommend it over doing Canon's battery packs with rechargeable AA batteries. It's easier to use, lasts longer, and recycles faster.

If you want to use the Quantum Turbo, you have no other option but to buy this cable. It does work well, is rugged and fits snuggly in the connection.
Be forewarned, there is a little plastic clip that helps take stress off the cable when it stretches from the flash to the Turbo when on your belt. Don't throw it away by accident!

For any photographer wishing to always have enough power and to be ready for that decisive moment, the CZ cable and the Quantum Turbo series of batteries is a must! I have been using Quantum Industries products for over twenty years and have never been let down. For wedding and event photography, you can shoot all day and never worry about dead batteries. The cables are very well made and hold up to just about any abuse you can throw at them. I have never found anything wrong with them, even after plugging and un-plugging thousands of times. Just don't lose it on a job, as there is nothing worse than having to go back to carrying a box of AA's!

As I use this generally in the winter season shooting indoor competition, my observation is limited to part-time...nonetheless, this newer cord seems an improvement over the last, as Canon has now beefed up flexible part of the cord next to the connector...the part of the cord which to my thinking has always received the hardest wear...the insulator on my last cord split right there...let's see if the improvement is lasting...stay tuned...

I use this to power a Canon 580EX & 580EXII with a Lumedyne cycler. I've never had a problem with it. It's heavy duty construction makes it very durable and reliable. The biggest problem I've had with it, due to my fault, is that it sometimes becomes disconnected from the Lumedyne cycler. There is a screw hole in the Cycler and a notch in the plug for the screw to fit into. I don't have the proper screw to secure it in place.
