I ordered this because I wanted a cheap portable kit that would be easy to transport and use on short notice.
What I got was a great portable kit for a very reasonable price. The stands come with standard studs so they can be used to mount other items and actually go higher than 10 feet. They are also very sturdy and stable. The cross bar is in four 3 foot'ish long sections that take seconds to assemble. You can use 2, 3 or 4 sections to make a length that matches your backdrop accordingly. The holes at the ends of the cross bar are elongated more than enough to allow the height of each stand to be changed a considerable amount without binding the cross bar at the opposite stand. With my old system this was a huge issue. The included carrying bag is also very nice. Each of the stands and cross bar sections have their own pockets so nothing rubs together. A very nice feature for picky people like me that don't want things damaged during storage or transportation.
This little "cheap" kit will be replacing my current system.

I bought this background stand for an event I shot where I needed to use a muslin background. This kit is complete with everything you need to use it to support cloth or paper backgrounds (2 stands, expandable crossbar & even a nice bag to store it all in).
Upon setting it up I realized that is was definitely not designed as a heavy duty system. The stands are thin, although light in weight, metal. The top-most extension of the stands is so thin I wondered how it would be able to support the combined weight of the crossbar and the 10x20 muslin I was going to use. I had it set up for a total of five hours and when I took it down I discovered the top-most extensions had bent from the weight of the muslin. I then had trouble getting them to nest back inside the lower sections of the stands.
I would have returned the kit to B&H, but I was outside their 15-day window for returns. Had I to do it over again, I would have bought some quality heavy-duty light stands and the Bogen extension pole (#2983) which I suspect is a much stronger piece than the one in the Impact kit. I priced out the pieces I had in mind and two lights stands with the Bogen crossbar was only $60 more (albeit with no bag).
My mistake. Always buy the best and only cry once. A bargain isn't always a bargain, especially in the case of this kit. One positive note though, the bag that is supplied with the kit is a great design and holds all the pieces securely making it easy to transport to locations outside the studio.

The stands have a wide base which is nice but after having one backdrop up for just an hour, one decided to collapse as if it was not tight enough. Went back up just fine. If I was not a student and I could afford better I would def get a better set. This will work for now.

Starting out as a freelancer semi pro photographer I had to
be extra careful with what I buy. This product proved to be
what the reviewers stated. It's easy to break down and set
up, comes with a light weight carrying case, and very affordable.

Comments about Impact Background Support System - 12' Wide:
I have used the Impact Background Support System twice since purchasing it and have been very pleased. I find it perfect for indoor use. I extended it almost as far up as it would go and used it with a muslim backdrop and a blanket. I did not need sandbags. (Outside you would, though because it's lightweight). I have only used it with two of the four poles across the top but found it pretty sturdy. Two poles is the perfect lenght for newborn photography. The best thing about this system is how easy it is to break down and carry. It is very light weight and the bag is great. If you won't often need the 12 feet of length then you will probably love this stand. I shot a mom, dad, and newborn with only two poles extended so I probably will never need four. But it's good to know you have that option. I'm really pleased with the purchase, and Holy Moly I love that carrying bag!

Comments about Impact Background Support System - 12' Wide:
I am currently using this support system along with a 9' roll of white seamless from Savage as a home studio setup. It's built well enough although I do recommend using weights or sandbags to place on the stands during use as the paper is heavy and the higher you raise it, the less sturdy it becomes (naturally). Overall, for the $$ you can't beat this product. Definitely recommend.

I used with a 10x12 backdrop and it worked great. I was very pleased with what I got for the amount I payed for it. I don't see the need to spend more for the same thing.

I'm just an amateaur and recently used this for a photo fundraiser at a non-profit I volunteer with.
I toyed with just making something out of PVC, but then came across this and the conveniance/portability it would provided at a reasonable price. It all worked great, quick to set up, stable, quick to tear down, and easy to transport.

I use this product weekly and love its ease of use and portability.
I love the adjustment knobs and the way this sets up easily.
The horizontal poles can pinch your skin if not careful and try not to dent the ends...close tolerance.

This is a great product, nice and sturdy; except for the two center crossbar which actually locked together when trying to take it apart, using a pair of vice grips to loosen it did the trick,Lol. Other than that,it still is a great product. More than likely I would use this on my next shoot.

Needed a simple support to for product photography. It is more than I expected. The box says that it comes with air cushion stands. Well they are not. Watch your hands when collapsing the stands since they close fast!!!.

Comments about Impact Background Support System - 12' Wide:
This is a worthy and simple to use support. I note that some have complained that it isn't too sturdy. Well, that's true, so don't use it as a pull up bar. It is however perfectly good at holding a 9 foot wide roll of seamless paper. Its light weight construction and ease of breaking apart to carry in the included carry bag make it valuable for location work as well as daily use in the studio. For the price, this is a great support kit.

This unit is fantastic. It is sturdy and heavy duty. The unit is also very very portable. The bag it comes in is very heavy duty. This is as good as any unit I have ever used. If extending the stands to full height use sandbags or something to keep it weighed down. This is just a smart practice no matter what background support system you have.

Comments about Impact Background Support System - 12' Wide:
I first used this product outside and was unsure how well it would work because it was a very windy day. The stand was very sturdy and the cloth did not blow as much as I thought it would. I was using this with a toddler and even though she was running all over the cloth, it did not get dirty or tear. It was very easy to set up and take down, and the case is easy to carry. Overall, it is a great product.

The Impact 12' support comes in a handy bag and is very easy to set up. It's a trick to get the background bar on, but it works great. I had young kids on the backdrop, pushing it a few times and falling against it and it stayed in place.
