I purchased this compact tripod for hiking in national parks, it's size when collapsed makes it easy to strap to my backpack. The only thing I don't like about it is it only comes with a 1/4" mount for whatever head you choose.

Still have trouble getting the legs out easily to change heights with all the twisting to tighten. Overall a great product

It is a light weight good quality tripod. Everything met my expectation. Although 4 section requires more time to extend but well worth it for its relatively compact size.

Comments about Slik Pro 714 CF II Carbon Fiber Tripod Legs, 4-Section - Supports 11 lb (5 kg):
I like this tripod a lot. I'm using it with a D200 and 80-200 2.8 and 300mm lenses. It's quite stable for its weight, and it gets more stable with more weight. The hook is great for hanging a pack on to stabilize it. It comes with a pouch for stones that attaches with straps too, but I find the hook more useful. Also, the center column comes apart so you can shorten it. I keep it short because it's lighter and more stable, but I can see wanting more reach at some point. The locks seem to be smooth and positive, though I haven't put it through a torture test backpacking in the mountains yet. I like the feet. You can screw down the rubber pad to reveal a small spike. I suspect the spike is a little too short to be really useful, but it has been good in a pinch. I've seen better locks for leg angle adjustment, but this mechanism is very light, strong and simple. I tested it splayed out and it worked fine with a heavy F4s and 80-200 2.8 lens on it.

The tripod is used for landscapes and commercial shots. The tripod is light and not bulky. Hold the 5D camera with a telephoto really well.
Very happy with tripod.
Comments about Slik Pro 714 CF II Carbon Fiber Tripod Legs, 4-Section - Supports 11 lb (5 kg):
I love this tripod. Very sturdy, yet lightweight. The independent leg movement and split center column allow you to position it any way you can imagine. Goes very low, but also all the way to eye level. It has a utility hook on the end of the center column and also comes with a stone apron, neither of which are mentioned in the description.A great carbon fiber tripod for less money then some of the more popular brands.
