I purchased this cutter to work with 13x19 inch paper. I wanted a solid cutter that would make clean, straight cuts. I got what I wanted and more. Based on other info found on the web, I thought the Rotatrim would only cut in one direction unless one made a dubious modification. I was happy to find that the cutter has instructions on the back to make it cut perfectly in both directions. It takes about 5 seconds to remove the protective guard. The caveat is that the guard prevents potential damage to the cutter by limiting the thickness one can cut. Since I am the only one that will use it I took the guard off.
It's not cheap, but it's worth every penny!

Bought this unit along with an Epson 3880 printer. I was first struck by the weight. Its pretty heavy. This along with the rubber feet keep it steady while trimming the photos.
The cutter glides along the rails without slop, cutting beautiful clean edges.
It has a sturdy, confidence inspiring build. I am a firm believer in buying something once. It is expensive, but I doubt I'll have to replace it.
Its a good feeling knowing that a quality made product can still be had these days.

I bought this trimmer for my darkroom 12 years ago and I have used it nearly every day ever since. I've cut sheet film, darkroom papers, trimmed photos, cut inkjet papers, trimmed greeting cards. It will also cut thin poster board (or 3 sheets of 235 or 250 gsm), but not matte boards. My wife discovered its virtues and uses it frequently, too. It seems there is always something to cut. When I gave up wet darkroom printing and went digital inkjet 6 years ago, I started cutting and trimming inkjet papers. Buying 11x17 and cutting the sheets in half is one app; cutting 17x22 to half that size, or in quarters is another. Probably it's greatest usage comes in trimming custom made and folded 5x7 photo greeting cards, but because it's so big, that's not its best application. I'm seriously considering buying a second smaller unit in the same brand just for that. But I can say, this unit has worked perfectly for 12 straight years with steady use, and it still cuts very well and is in overall great shape. Never even had to replace the roller blade. I'm sure I paid a lot less 12 years ago, but even at today's price, considering the years of usage you'll get, it's a bargain. Highly recommended.

I looked at many reviews for other paper trimmers before buying this one. I was reluctant to spend the extra money for a Rotatrim Mastercut, but am very glad I did. The action is very smooth and the trimmer is amazingly accurate. It cleanly trims off even the narrowest of slivers. Cuts are always perfectly straight with exact 90-degree angles. Built to last a lifetime.

Only had it for a couple of weeks but it's doing a great job so far. Can trim a very small amount. No drag cutting through the paper easier to line up cut vs. the pull down cutter. Double bar is real stable. I'm just trimming extra white off on photos i print.

Was using a cheaper trimmer for a year or two - put too much paper in and ruined it. The blade jumped the track and it was never steady even when it worked. This one is solid as a rock. Perfect cuts every time. The blade mounted on two tubes reduces any risk of shake or movement in the blade and helps make the cuts smooth. It's fantastic. You get what you pay for.

I own an Epson 3880 pro printer and have struggled when trimming pictures in the past. I purchased this product and have trimmed several photos that were 17" x 22".
The ease of operation is a dream come true. While the cutter is large, I am working with big paper so it would make sense that it is. Manuvering around the cutting deck is easy so the photos do not incur any damage that would occur trying to get them onto a smaller surface. The cuts are straight and clean. The dual rail system ensures perfection. The self sharpening cutter is razor sharp. The measuring grid allows easy calculations. Build quality is top notch.
Well worth the money.

I use this cutter for just about everything but mostly photos. Its the only cutter I've ever owned (and I've been through a lot of them) that can cut a straight, clean edge every time. It is totally worth the price. Definitely one of those "get what you pay for" situations.

Only Con is it should have come with a ruler guide for larger paper sizes like 17" by 22", since it is a 24" cutter. Not sure if any cutter comes with this but this would have made it perfect. It's an extra.

This is BY FAR the best cutter I have ever used. It is a lot of money for a cutter, but the results are fabulous. I can trim, or should I say shave, fractions of an inch off of a photo if I need to. I do not have any problems with it messing up edges. I also like that the edge of the cutter is where the cut is made, makes it easy to cut photos apart and keep them square.
I wish the table were a little wider, only for measuring purposes. It will cut 24", but only measure 12".
