I bought this little converter to use with my Nikon D5500. Paired this with the Sigma 30mm f1.4 lens; this converter works perfectly. I was hoping for a little more of a wild, artsy fartsy fish eye effect but am impressed with the high resolution and non existent vignette. I would definitely recommend this converter; I feel like I purchased a $600 fish eye lens and spent under $150.

Is there anyway to get a lens hood on this wide angle converter?

The Heliopan lens hood (B&H # HELHR82) is made from real rubber that will not deteriorate from UV rays or from extremes in temperature. The rubber compound is welded on to the black anodized brass mounting ring so the hood can not separate from the ring. The hood is convertible from normal to wide angle by rolling it back and it is front threaded for caps and filters. The grooved interior of the shade minimizes flare and helps to direct stray light away from the lens.

Is this a conventional wide angle adapter or does it introduce any type of fisheye effect?

I am a bit of a novice with video but it seems like it doesn't have much fish eye effect a little maybe on the far sides.
