The MDR-7506 is a staple within the recording, film and live arenas. Due to its low impedance and closed ear design, the headphone does an outstanding job of cutting down background noise while providing plenty of volume in the studio or in the field. Additionally, the closed design helps eliminate "headphone bleed" when overdubbing in the studio.
The MDR-7506 is an around-the-ear design and is ideal for use with MIDI workstations, camcorders or other equipment with less than powerful headphone amplification. The headphone has a foldable design, making it convenient to store or transport.

I use these every day in my job. I work in the games industry, and I needed a pair of headphones with great audio quality for game dialogue. I also wanted headphones that could block out noise without noise-canceling technology. These headphones really help block out the noise around me - even better than my Bose noise-canceling headphones. When the Bose would cut out ambient noise, they voices around me were much more prominent. These effectively work as mufflers, helping to block out the ambient noise and the voices. The sound quality is also fantastic - I've heard things in dialogue (such as a tiny chair squeak) that others could not detect. These have been a great choice for work. They are also durable - I've dropped them a few times and dragged them along with my rolling chair and they still look new. They fold up, which is also handy and came with a carrying case. I only gave them four stars because I have a small head and the headband portion makes my head sore if they aren't in exactly the right position.

Slim profile allows you to use them while shooting hand held. Typical "Japaneses" sounding with somewhat overemphasized mid-range that helps you hear voice well but can drive you crazy with phantom mic rustling sound that seems to disappear in the edit room. I'm buying pair number 2 because first one bit the dust, cable problems. Not the most rugged pair for field work but OK enough.

I bought these expecting something pretty good but not amazing... Well these are amazing. I was considering Beats br Dr. Dre.. No these sound just as good for a way cheaper price. If you are debating between beats, or any other over ear headphones for that matter, with these? Choose these, you will not regret.

Used these on a shoot one weekend and bought a pair the next day. The difference between these and the phones I was using ($30 pair from a reputable company) was night and day. High quality and they fold up compactly to fit in my gear bag.

Comments about Sony MDR-7506 Circumaural Closed-Back Professional Monitor Headphone:
I use this for audio monitoring all day in my job as a video/audio software engineer. It's the only set of phones that I can have on all day without (mechanically) irritating my ears. It provides excellent isolation from the high noise levels in our office, has a very even frequency response, and excellent dynamic range response. I had a pair of these (company-purchased) that I used for over 6 years at my old job, and the only problem was that the pads work out. I bought a new set of pads that were velour, and even more comfortable, and I'm considering those pads again even before the new pads wear out.

Great sound quality. They sound very clear and provide a great range rather than the bass heavy sound that earbuds output.

Comments about Sony MDR-7506 Circumaural Closed-Back Professional Monitor Headphone:
After dealing with some of the more stylish headphone brands that ended up sounding ok but falling apart fairly quickly, I decided to spend a bit more and give the MDR-7506's a go based on the hundreds of glowing reviews here and elsewhere.
I've had them for a couple weeks now and love them, these are by far the best headphones I have ever owned. Everything sounds crisp and clean, there's a decent amount of bass, but it's not overemphasized. I'm not as knowledgeable about the different aspects of audio as some reviewers here, but I can explain it this way; in the past I was constantly mucking around with the EQ in my player software, now I generally don't have to because things just sound "right".
The MDR-7506s are also darn comfortable. I bought a pair of Garfield earpad softies from the get-go, and with those on I haven't noticed much discomfort, even after extended use. The headband conforms to my skull well and adjusts easily. It's got kind of a ratchet thing going on, everything locks into place and stays that way- one side isn't slowly slipping down or anything like that.
The rest: the cord is plenty long, but coiled so it doesn't get in the way. Everything seems well made and sturdy- I don't feel like I have to handle the things with kid gloves (not that I'm throwing them around, either). The phones have a little hinge on each side so that they fold up nice, making them pretty compact for travel or whatever. I find myself liking the way they look more and more- they aren't stylish, but they are designed with kind of a perfect utility.

I sold my Bose QC3's and decided to go with these after a good music producer friend of mine steered me toward these. I love the sound and they are very comfortable. The bass doesn't get distorted like the Bose and Beats By Dre. This set is the BEST BANG for the BUCK!!!!

I use these for video editing. Good, clean sound and comfortable to wear for long periods of time. The material that covers the padded earpieces seems to be coming loose after only using them a few times... I don't know if it is poor design or the way I handle them??? but that is the only problem I have had. Overall nice, professional product.

I bought these headphones for work and I could not be happier. I do video work, and a lot of writing and to be honest I just needed something that I could wear all day without becoming uncomfortable. I'll be honest, I don't know much about sound, but the quality is great for me. The cord is long enough to reach where I need it to go and it doesn't get in the way. Great pair of headphones!

These are simply the best headphones I have every used for mixing and sound editing. The large earpad cover my ears completely and make wearing them for prolonged periods of time very comfortable. They give a true flat sound with no extra low end. Simply put these are excellent - no wonder they are the industry standard.

The Sony MDR-7506 headphones are solid and useful kit that I wouldn't be caught without. They are rugged and reliable, and can endure a fair bit of abuse while still sounding pretty good. They aren't the most accurate or clean headphones available, but for production work they can't be beat, especially at their price.

Very happy with my purchase of the sony mdr-7506 headphones. It was delivered on time and was properly packaged and sustained no damage. These are the first pair of over-ear headphones I have bought. I use them to listen to music/movies on my computer. I find the sound crisp but also with full bass. The best of both worlds in my opinion. I would recommend this product to friends and family.
