Sachtler is revered as an undisputed leader in pro heads and the FSB-6 lives up to the reputation. 3 levels of silky pan and tilt drag goodness, and the carbon fiber stix are IMHO worth the extra cash and just ooze that high-tech something. Not sure if they are really lighter than the aluminum but they FEEL lighter. Three tension 'nobs' instead of six is a BIG plus when you're setting up lots of shots in a session! Walk like a man, and get this system. Thank me later.

I regret this purchase
If you buy this tripod keep glue handy and tools so you can keep it together. For $1,600 plus dollars I was hoping for something secure and trouble free, at least for awhile.

Sachtler doesn't put enough glue in the legs to keep it from coming apart in the field. The cams that tighten the legs constantly need to be adjusted which is a pain to do.
The head works fine but the legs are junk!

Comments about Sachtler 0475 FSB-6 Carbon-Fiber Tripod System:
Great fluid head, lightweight, designed for quick setup. However, you'd probably be better off pairing it with a different set of legs.
We purchased six of these tripods and two of them have had issues with the legs slipping. Because of the design of the 4588 legs, they cannot be tightened or fixed with a simple hex wrench. Rather, they need to be professionally serviced, which is expensive if the item is no longer under warranty.

Comments about Sachtler 0475 FSB-6 Carbon-Fiber Tripod System:
Very simple to use. Outstanding design and quality; lightweight; very fast to erect; and most importantly, pan & tilt action smooth and professional even at the highest zoom settings. having spent a lot of money trying to find robust tripods with excellent PT qualities, I finally found it. Wished I started here first!!

I wrote a previous review where I would not recommend this tripod. Since then, B&H discontinued this tripod for awhile and Sachtler had me send the tripod to them and they fixed it. Since then I have been a happy customer.
They had a problem on the production line and fixed the problem. I hope they learned their lesson

This is an excellent tripod. I debated for a long time whether or not to buy this tripod or a cheaper Manfrotto tripod like the 504HD. While I am sure the Manfrotto is a great tripod, from what I have read, the Sachtler has much more potential. I am looking to grow my rig and I don't want something that is going to have to be replaced shortly down the road.
The quality of the head is noticed immediately. The legs are also very sturdy although the mid-level spreader is a little clunky. I highly recommend this tripod if you are working with an HDSLR and want to have a pretty beefed up rig. I currently use it with a 7D, matte box with filters and a follow focus. I plan to add an EVF and the ability to make it a shoulder rig also.
Great Tripod, Highly recommended.

Got into professional video 4 years ago and purchased an inferior tripod, what a difference the FSB-6 makes. Now my pans and zooms are smooth and sweet. Very professional tripod.

I have worked with a number of tripods and this is by far the best one I have ever used. I shoot with a Sony PMW-EX1R and this tripod has allowed me to have very smooth pans, along with stable stationary shots. In the case of this tripod I can honestly say that you get what you pay for.

Comments about Sachtler 0475 FSB-6 Carbon-Fiber Tripod System:
Sachtler is definitely a great way to go if you are looking for a professional style tripod. I was trying to be economical, but not cut back on quality. I compared this head to the Bogen 504HD head and found this to be far superior in terms of build quality and smoothness. This is a tripod that will last a life time. Very happy with it.

As always a fantastic product from Sachtler. Smooth pans and tilts and the lighted bubble level is bonus in low light. Great set up and legs are rock solid . . . all around excellent!

What a great kit! I struggled with the decision and finally decided to plunk down the money for this even though it was more money than I had planned.
I am not disappointed. Extremely well made, easy to balance, and works great with my DSLR setup.

I use this as my personal tripod for super 8, super 16mm, and for digital dslr cameras. I like the fact that is small enough to fit in a bag and easy to set up but powerful for sure and with a real fluid head movement.
I cannot think of anything bad about it other than I am not too crazy about the mid level spreader but other than that is a dream come true.

All you need for a personal tripod. May be a bid heavy for some (I am a strong guy) IT DOES HAVE an illuminated bubble! [...] Overall very happy! after a long research I made the right decision.See my unpacking video on U Tube: FSB 6 UNBOXING

This is a tri-pod I will have for the next 20+ years. Great build quality, very smooth REAL fluid head, light carbon fiber sticks, the list goes on and on.
One thing to not though is that there are only 4 resistance settings (0,1,2, and 3). But that doesn't really bother me. But there are 10 counterbalance settings which is really nice.
This tri-pod is worth the extra money.

Comments about Sachtler 0475 FSB-6 Carbon-Fiber Tripod System:
I've used MANY Sachtler pods and this unfortunately DOES NOT meet up to their standards or others manufactures for that matter. The carbonfiber pod with the 75mm ball is limited in motion and difficult to quickly level. The luminating light on the head must be pushed several times to make work each time you turn it on. My biggest problem is with the head. The quick release is not quick (TWO locks, one a screw). Nor is it secure without clamping the locks down tight. Cartoni, Miller even Manfrotto is able to secure and quick release the cameras better with ONE lock why not Sachtler??? Because they cut to many corners with this heads design. The pod is stable if you don't have to set up many times at a shoot but for an active shoot it will be a pain.

I took the tripod out of it's box, popped the camera on it and was hooked! No stiction, just smooth moves. I wish I'd bought one years ago! Fits in my luggage, I fly a lot, slightly heavier than I'd like but an amazing tripod!

I've used other tripods for half the money that were nearly as good but once you get used to the feel of this you will want to shoot with it.
And those carbon legs are way better than Alu for weight and I would guess strength. And set up with this system is very quick. Just a great piece of gear that screams professionalism.
