The VAIO AR Series VGN-AR550U Notebook Computer from Sony is the perfect blend of mobility, style, and performance. You'll be able to use the noteboook with digital cameras, video cameras, MP3 players and more.

The VAIO comes with software such as Microsoft Works for productivity and Sony Click to DVD for DVD creation. 60-day trials of Microsoft Office 2007 and Norton Internet Security 2007 are also included. Bringing digital photos into your computer is easy with the built-in digital media card reader and you can capture digital video through the FireWire port. You can easily connect peripheral devices to the computer via the three installed USB 2.0 ports.

The system is powered by a 1.8GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T7100 CPU and boasts 2GB of RAM, 240GB 5400rpm SATA hard drive capacity, a SuperMulti DVD Burner, Bluetooth, wireless Ethernet and a 17" Widescreen display powered by nVIDIA GeForce 8400M GT graphics. Windows Vista Ultimate is the platform that ties all this hardware and software together, giving you a great portable computer for the digital savvy family, backed by the Sony name.

• Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T7100 CPU: The Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T7100 CPU is based on an architecture designed specifically for mobile computing; this processor delivers a balanced level of mobile processor technology and exceptional value in this lighter, easier-to-carry notebook PC. The dual-core technology delivers two execution cores in one CPU, giving you better performance than a comparable single-core processor.

• Windows Vista Ultimate: The computer comes preloaded with the Windows Vista Ultimate operating system from Microsoft. Vista includes the slick Aero user interface, complete with the Windows Sidebar, gadget support, Flip3D navigation and more. The Ultimate edition of Vista includes the popular Windows Media Center application. This lets your computer more easily connect to your home theater and wirelessly stream media to the Xbox 360 or another compatible media extender device. Ultimate also supports advanced networking tools and includes the BitLocker data encryption tools to protect your sensitive data.

• Widescreen Display: The laptop has a 17" high-definition widescreen display that brings your movies and photos to life with amazing color and clarity due to its X-Brite technology. • Home Theater Integration: The computer features HDMI and S/PDIF outputs. This lets you turn your laptop into a media center computer, allowing it to interface with the latest HDTV and surround sound systems. Standard S-Video and analog outputs are also there, allowing you to connect the laptop to almost any television. The system also features an external TV tuner by ATI, allowing you to use it as a DVR for recording your favorite programming.
