The Pearstone VT-2000 is a lightweight, affordable tripod system designed to work with camcorders and still cameras weighing up to 15 lbs. It features a two-way pan head with a quick-release plate for easy mounting and removal of your camera. An internal bubble level helps prevent shots from tilting to one side, while a built-in center brace locks in place to keep the legs secure.
And if you can't get quite high enough with the legs fully extended, a 13" (33cm) gear-driven center column makes sure your camera can rise to the occasion. For DSLRs, small camcorders, and even digital point-and-shoots, the VT-2000 delivers the stability your images need.

Long ago in my Canon Xl1 & XL2 days I had a hottie totty expensive & heavy tripod & fluid head that ran me almost $400. It eventually broke after several years of pretty good use, and I just was not in the mood to drop another chunk of money on a tripod but I needed one in a fix for some quick gigs I was shooting. I bought a really cheapo $30 that was absolutely awful and I was getting ready to just bite the bullet and save some $$$ for an expensive one, but another gig came up and I didn't have the extra cash at the time so I read reviews and bought this one on the blind. I was really pleasantly surprised. It was only [$] but it really looks like it is a lot more expensive tripod. It is stable and locks up nice and gets your camera up to 6 feet, and even has a relatively smooth head movement in all directions - and it's light and folds up to a nice 2 foot long tote bag. This worked perfectly for some shoots I had to do with the Panasonic Lumix GH1 - a fairly light DSLR but the tripod seems sturdy enough to handle more. No, it's not a world class tripod but it's a VERY good deal for sixty bucks and strangely enough the $150 pearstone model up from this one seems not as well made. If you are going to go up from here get the $160 bescor - thats really good too, after that you get into $$$ for heavy heavy stuff.

For the price, this tripod is fantastic for supporting anything less than a prosumer cam.
The advertised 15 lb. capacity is far reaching because once I reached the half way point on cranking up the center column with my 13 lb video camera, I was swayin in the wind.
The head feels smooth, but again, it struggles under the weight of my 13 lb. prosumer.
The sticks are wonderful, they feel rugged, yet lightweight. I only fear they will be sticking out of the bag soon because is feels a little too thin.
Overall, I am pleased with this tripod and will pass it down to my wife soon after my other set arrives. It will be a great pod for her little cam.

Comments about Pearstone VT-2000 Semi-Fluid Head Tripod System:
I use this tripod to take occasional videos of sports with my DSLR with battery grip and 80-200mm zoom. I was worried about this tripod not being sturdy enough but it is fine for this purpose even though the camera/lens combination is fairly heavy. You do get what you pay for as the construction uses a lot of plastic, but it is strong and sturdy enough for basic use. Fluid head at this price and is a very good value.

For a smaller tripod it has great action and controls. We use it in our school for small video shoots and webcasting sports events.

Use with Canon Vixia HFS21 with wide angle lens. Although I often film standing in water and sand, the extendable legs still work perfectly. Lightweight, yet sturdy, smooth panning, simple to open and collapse, easy camera release knob. Very satisfied, especially considering the reasonable price.

Does a better job than i anticipated. the head is smoooooth, and the tripod itself feels solid. Would be strong enough to handle a G2 sized rig, anything smaller is just easy. A good investment.

i use it for any place i want to capture still shots, and sometimes use it to pan. It does not have all of the features of the expensive tripods, but it does all you need for every type of basic work.

I bought the tripod to use with the Canon Vixia HF M300 camcorder. It is easy to set up and position. I have only used this a few times and have no complaints.

I've only used this on a couple of shoots so far, but for the price, it's really good. Legs seem solid and while it's not completely smooth for panning, it's exactly what I needed for still shots.

Compared to another tripod I bought for the same price, this is 10 times more useful. The other one is really only good for hold the camera in place during an interview shoot. For the same price, this is a tripod I can actually do movements with. It feels almost as fluid as my $300 Manfrotto system. At the time of this review B&H has a disclaimer about it being noisy and not completely smooth. I've not noticed any noise, and it's pretty ridiculously smooth especially for the price. If you're looking for a tripod under $50 or even under $100 I would strongly recommend this.

Looking for a tripod to use while video taping student presentations that was quick to set up yet stable enough for daily use. Have purchased 3 of these and are planning on several more to have available in each of the multi-media classrooms. Would recommend to anyone wanting a good quality tripod that won't bust your budget...

I have owned Gitzo and used other high-end and expensive tripods and the VT 2000 rates high even compared with the best. The quick-release plate is faultless and secure, the legs shorten and extend fast and tighten securely with quick levers to loosen and tighten, Everything is the right construction and position for effortless operation. I count this tripod as one of my best and most valuable pieces of photographic and video equipment.

Comments about Pearstone VT-2000 Semi-Fluid Head Tripod System:
I work for a University Athletic Department and I purchased this tripod as part of a kit with a panasonic camera. This tripod has been amazing to use. It has image stabalization feagures so that the head of the tripod isn't flying around and the user overshoots the object they're filming which is important in athletics with the ball going everywhere.
The one problem we ran into was our own fault. I didn't train one of the workers and they took it upon themself to break down equipment. The crank for the tripod to raise the head was locked and he tried to crank it down and the handle snapped. He used too much pressure and I'm sure had he known there was a knob to tighten the crank, it would still be attached.
Other than that, a great piece of equipment.

Comments about Pearstone VT-2000 Semi-Fluid Head Tripod System:
For not a particularly high price, you get a relatively solid, hefty tripod with a good case. There are a few too many plastic parts for my taste, but the movement mechanisms are quite sturdy and exceptionally smooth. The camera plate is particleboard--nice touch. Really a fantastic buy at this price-- can really hold a heavy camera. The tough carrying case is definitely a plus.
