Axis Communications 243Q Overview

The Axis Communications AXIS 243Q Blade Video Server effectively bridges the gap between analog and digital technology. The Blade accepts up to four analog fixed or dome cameras and turns them into virtual network cameras complete with full Internet access, alarm I/O ports and even PTZ control (camera dependent).

This Blade is designed to slide inside an AXIS Video Rack Server, either the 3-port or the 14-port version. Both rack models use a single Ethernet port to connect to a network and allow easy swapping between different types of Blades.

Note:
This Blade requires either a 3-port (AX291) or 12-port (AXRB41914) Video Rack
Simultaneous MJPEG, MPEG-4 & 30 FPS Recording Speeds
Blade Servers are available in four different configurations, each designed to suit a particular application. This AXIS 243Q Video Server has the distinction of being able to capture video simultaneously in both the MJPEG and MPEG-4 formats and at speeds up to 30 FPS across all four channels. This gives a user the necessary control over how data is transmitted over a network and also provides a user with the image clarity required to closely identify people and objects.
PTZ Control
Once connected to the Blade, analog dome cameras are treated exactly like network PTZ cameras and are fully controllable for their pan, tilt and zoom functions over the Internet.
Alarm I/O Ports
To further enhance security performance, AXIS Video Racks provide individual alarm I/O ports in the back of each Blade slot. These I/O ports can be used with external sensors to trigger alarm events such as when a door or window is being forcefully opened, and to activate devices following an alarm event like turning a light on or locking down a row of doors.
