Solid State Logic Duende Overview

Duende from Solid State Logic is a FireWire equipped dedicated DSP processor, designed to deliver the complete SSL mix experience, using SSL developed plug-ins. Based on the digital technology of the C-Series consoles, the unit provides powerful EQ and dynamics processing, to both native based systems and those that provide their own dedicated DSP.

Duende offers up to thirty-two channels of signal processing and supports sample rates from 44.1 to 96kHz. The different processing blocks appear as VST, Audio Units (Mac only) and RTAS plug-ins (available via the optional FXpansion wrapper.) The plug-ins include the authentic SSL channel strip with filters, E and G series EQ and dynamics processing, as well as the legendary SSL Bus Compressor.

Dynamic section includes variable compression ratio from 1:1 to infinity:1, a variable threshold from -30dB to +10dB, auto sensing attack time (or selectable 1ms attack time) and a variable release from 0.1 to 4 seconds
Compressor/Limiter has two modes of signal detection, Peak and RMS
Expander/Gate controls include a variable range from 0 to 40dB, a variable threshold from -30dB to +10dB, an auto-sensing attack time (switchable to 150 micro seconds), a variable hold time from 0 to 4 seconds, and a variable release time from 0.1 to 4 seconds
Includes bus compressor based on the SL 4000 G Series console
