Comments about Audioengine A5 Bookshelf Speakers (White):
I bought a set of A2 speakers and they blew my mind because they simply sounded incredible for their size. They work great with music and movies but especially music. I was so impressed, I bought the A5 as well thinking they must be many times better because they were much bigger. Well, they were better but not to the level I was expecting. The A5 sounded fuller, louder and crisper but not by much and with the added bulk. Not an even trade-off in my opinion. I am still more impressed with the A2. Great sound is expected from such large speakers such as the A5 and it wasnt anything special. You can buy many great sounding speakers that are just as large. If I had a choice again, I would buy the A2 over the A5. Hope this helps future buyers of Audioengine products.

Comments about Audioengine A5 Bookshelf Speakers (White):
Fantastic sound from a very compact package. I am mainly using these in combination with an Airport Express to stream 256 kbps AAC files from iTunes. The sound is phenomenal and I have owned much more expensive loudspeakers in combination with very sophisticated pre-amps and tube amplifiers. For a powered speaker system, I doubt it can get any better. Kudos to Audioengine for designing such a wonderful product.

Comments about Audioengine A5 Bookshelf Speakers (White):
Purchased for use as computer/music speakers due to great reviews elsewhere. Excellent sound. I noticed a big improvement in audio quality after 25 hours of use. Good imaging. Very solid construction. Would also be a great choice for powered room speakers or portable speakers. Only negatives for use as computer speakers is they're pretty big and the power cord is pretty short, too short to stretch from the left speaker, across the table and down to the floor, so having to use an extension cord. I would definitely buy again and have recommended to others.

Comments about Audioengine A5 Bookshelf Speakers (White):
packaging and included cables were great. speakers are very attractive and solid feeling. you'll need longer speaker wire for any decent separation. I've only used them a few times (for AV in a large space). The sound seems to be first rate. Definitely would recommend.

Comments about Audioengine A5 Bookshelf Speakers (White):
Very solid build and reasonable value. These are great for book shelf speakers and outdoor speakers if you don't mind carrying them in and out.Depending on your source and material they may not reproduce music as well as you'd like. For iPods, mp3 players, radio, etc. they are very good. For CD, Logitech Squeezebox, vinyl or tape they tend to poorly reproduce cymbals, bells, horns and on the low end they don't accurately reproduce bass guitar, etc.. For acoustic piano they are killer. So why would I recommend them? Well, they are still very good speakers for the price range. If a [$] speaker could accurately reproduce hi quality recordings, who would spend thousands on speakers.BTW, these little speakers have plenty of power for outdoor use. The produce lots of volume with no distortion. The only negative is they could have used normal size banana jacks for speaker connection.
