Saw this product in a photography book and it got my attention. This really does work. It is bulky when on but flattens down when in storage which makes it befeficial when going location to location. The biggest "con" that I read about was that shooters were upset about haveing to mount this softbox to their flash heads with velcro(hook/loof fasteners). What I did was, I already had a SBM supreme flash diffuser(around $15 BH) that was my standard diffuser. I took a razor knife and cut the end off to be flush w/ the end of my Canon 430EX flash. Then I put the velcro on the remaining portion of the SBM diffuser that, you guessed it, has a perfect fit to my particular flash. Now I can attatch my mini softbox to my flash and I always have a perfect fit w/o any velcro being applied to my expensive flash. I also have the Gary Fong Light Sphere II and it works great but sometimes I just like the light produced from the mini softbox. It just depends what your looking for in your exposure. Don't expect to get any real distance exposuer from this unit either. It is exclusively a close-up portrait product and should only be used as such.

This softbox was too small to do any major difference. If you're more than 5ft away it does a lot better. But for close ups it's not nearly big enough to disperse the light from a flash gun. You also have to tape Velcro on the flash which i didn't want to do so i just used a rubber band.

I needed a compact, easy to use flash diffuser for my indoor photography. The Mini Softbox worked perfectly. It attaches to my Canon Flash with the velcro provided and folds up for easy storage. You will see a definite difference with your flash photography. It softens the light beautifully.

Nice lighting. Easy to attach either with velcro or a couple of rubber bands. Folds up neat and small but as time goes on the folding to store may cause the plastic to crack or tear. I believe that for my use it should hold up well.

Comments about LumiQuest Mini SoftBox - for Shoe-Mount Flashes:
Although I despise using an on-camera flash, sometimes it is convenient. This allows me to walk around a dark reception hall and take photos without the stress of where my light source is. It softens the harsh shadows and spreads the light nicely. It is portable and easy to use.

Comments about LumiQuest Mini SoftBox - for Shoe-Mount Flashes:
I tested this indoors. Sometimes when you're shooting events, you can't bounce everything off the ceiling specially on dance floors where they could have huge domes in dark color.
Your only option is to flash the subject directly which I hate as it casts harsh shadows, but with this mini softbox it really made a huge different. You do have to increase the power a little but the picture looks 10 times better.
The construction is a bit cheap. For this price, they could have added the Velcro or something. Who wants to tape their expensive flash? I still gave it 5 star because in the end, you do get the results. Would love to try the other sizes one day.

Comments about LumiQuest Mini SoftBox - for Shoe-Mount Flashes:
The Mini Softbox produces great results but it's basically cardboard and vinyl. In just a couple of years the joints where the panels meet have started to tear. Other good things about it is that it's super portable in that it folds flat and the "barndoors" help to focus your light instead of sending it in all directions.

This would be good for outside work I think. For indoor work, just bouncing off the ceiling seems to work best for me. Even with this small softbox, it's still too harsh for inside.
As for construction, I'm not a huge fan of putting velco on my flash to make this work. I had to peel it off once already to make sure I could put my diffuser on top when not using this softbox.

Comments about LumiQuest Mini SoftBox - for Shoe-Mount Flashes:
This mini softbox by Lumiquest works really well. I can see a huge improvement in shooting with it as opposed to without it. I won't be taking any flash shots without it anymore actually! I have used this for some indoor baby shots & the pictures turned out phenomenal & just as if I had studio lighting set up.
This mini-sofbox is nice & flexible & can be folded pretty flat when its not used to easily fit in my camera bag.
The only downside to this particular mini softbox is that the packaging said you can use the velcro to attach it to your flash, or use the strap for it. I never got a strap w/ mine. The instructions mention this so I am not sure if it was supposed to have one come with it, or if this was something extra you need to buy. I wound up using the velcro due to time & needing to use my new mini softbox for some photo shoots, but I think I would prefer to use the "strap" that was indicated as I prefer not to have velcro on my flash permanently.
Overall great product & the price is right!

Love It! I looked at lot's of light diffusers and decided this one would work well in my repetoire. I was a little skepitcal at first. Seemed a little flimsy and attaches with velcro? hmmmmm So i went ahead and got it and put it on my new 580 EXII. The difference between shooting with and without it is remarkable. Great diffused light just adds another level of choices for me. Folds totally flat for easy storage. Well built of good quality materials. LOVE IT!

It's so much more convenient than the Gary Fong. It folds up and fits in my pocket.
I use it for outdoor portraits and it eliminates shadows on faces without harshness.

To me it works a little better than the Stofen Diffuser because it has a slightly larger surface. I do not know about the durability. It would seem that it may start to tear in the corners after a while.

I've used this product for macro use, group photos and other engagements where I can't use an umbrella. It definitely gives you the bang for the buck. The velcro on my Vivitar 285 HV flash unit doesn't affect performance or looks either.

Comments about LumiQuest Mini SoftBox - for Shoe-Mount Flashes:
I bought this mini softbox for my 580 EXII speedlite. It effectively reduces, and often eliminates completely, the "flash glare" so common with flashes. I am working on using this in a small studio setting without any natural light and am pleased with the results of head / shoulder poses. I bought the cinch strap as I did not want to attach velcro. My only complaint is that it sometimes falls off when the flash is tilted.
