The Manfrotto 190CXPRO3 Carbon Fiber Tripod Legs follows in the footsteps of the highly popular and award winning 190X series, but has now been further improved with the use of carbon fiber tubing for its legs. Thanks to innovative production techniques - which allow for high quality 100% carbon tube structures - the 190CX guarantees a higher load capacity and an increased height with a lighter overall weight (-20%) thanks to a completely new design, which allowed to lighten the components.
The 190CXPRO3 is a 3-leg section tripod, with a center column design that allows it to be used in either vertical or horizontal position. By extending the column to its highest vertical position, the column can be swung over to horizontal without removing the head or disassembling the column itself.
The 190CXPRO3 also features several other improvements, such as an improved leg locking system, redesigned angle adjustment levers, and a leveling bubble that is incorporated into the head plate.

Used to own the aluminium 190 from BM and was absolutely stunned by it's stability, but was slightly annoyed by the locking mechanism of the legs and the weight was just a little too much for an all day trek (urban or in nature).
So after playing with other tripods as well (Gitzo namely), I concluded that THIS is my best option. And yes it is, albeit the Gitzo is considered to be the better sister brand, I feel these legs outperform anything below 700$, by a great margin. I absolutely love these legs, most notably for their : lightweight character, very good stability and ease of setting it up,also they have this new feature where you can flip the camera 90 degrees. The gear that i put on is a 40D with a 70-200 f/2.8L IS USM (sometimes extender as well),plus battery grip, a UV and a polarizer ... overall pretty heavy equipment and the tripod legs excel in keeping everything steady. I am very happy with my purchase and highly recommend this pair of legs. On a sidenote i also played with the basalt/lava legs ... and was not pleased with neither stability nor weight as CF outperforms the upper mentioned by far in both categories.

I use this tripod for landscape, wildlife and macro photography. I read all theese great reviews on b&h and thought it would be a great purchase. Sadly it has not been good enough. It is not very solid (the rubber things at the bottom of the legs fell of after using the tripod on an uneaven surface), its not very stable - I was photographing the landscape in the Norwegian mountains and I needed to place my tripod in the shallow water (did not eaven reach my knees). I took my hans of the tripod for a few seconds and the whole ting fell into the water. That is NOT good enough! there was no current, no wind, no waves, nothing... I almost ruined camera gear worth over $2300. (this is how solid the canon 7D is! It was under the water for about a second and after 3 days of drying it worked perfecty, probably because the water was very clean) Also the legs tend to get loose very often and needs to be tightened. Something inside one of the legs must have broken when I used it in "macro mode" because now I cant push one of the legs all the way in. The only good thing about this tripod is the weight. Its very light and easy to carry around. I must say I regret buying this tripod. I was hoping for something of good quality, but this is far from good enough.

The legs are excellent. Very versatile, but no fuss - they performed great in the field. I managed to use all configurations on a single hike; they all worked very well and were all indispensable. I've heard some complain about height, but I'm 6'4" and never felt it needed more height. And the weight - or lack of it - made it very easy to carry.

I needed a light weight tripod and head for filming Documentaries with a lot of travel where I could only take what I could carry. I used it with the 701HDV FLUID HEAD, using DSLR. Does the job as expected, cost reasonable for what it is.

Comments about Manfrotto 190CXPRO3 3-Section Carbon Fiber Tripod Legs (Black):
I borrowed this tripod first from a friend and I was sold so I bought it right away. The legs are very easy to expand and work smoothly. It's not too heavy and with the addition of a pistol grip it's ideal. There are so many more functions this tripod enables me to do than my old tripod...like the additional angles of spread and raising the column for extra height. I'm very happy with this tripod and would recommend it to anyone.

Comments about Manfrotto 190CXPRO3 3-Section Carbon Fiber Tripod Legs (Black):
I like this tripod. It's light weight and small enough to take with me to places I usually wouldn't. I think that's the most important thing about a tripod. There's no point in having one, if it's not used.
The legs are very easy to unclip and setup to fully extend the tripod. It's also very fast to fold.

I'm just beginning to really get into photography, but knew that a good tripod was a must for some still photos. I wanted something light enough, yet sturdy to handle the outdoors. The 190CXPRO3 perfectly compliments my needs. What's more is that I can configure it to lie flat on the ground! Not too many tripds can do that. Wish it came with a bag, but I'm actually pretty careful with my gear, so I should be alright. If you're looking for a light and strong tripod, I think this is the best for the money!

It's a nice tripod but it is too large and heavy if you travel much. I sent mine back and am looking for a lighter, smaller model.

Bought this with a Manfrotto 496 Compact Ball Head for use travelling and trekking with my Canon 7D and my assorted heavy L glass. It is very light weight but well built, sturdy and stable. It holds the camera without slipping. It adjusts easily and quickly with the quick releases on the legs. It locks well. I am 6'3" tall and it is tall enough for me to use very comfortably. I also recommend a padded carrying bag for it.

Comments about Manfrotto 190CXPRO3 3-Section Carbon Fiber Tripod Legs (Black):
I was concerned that the 190CXPRO3 wouldn't be sturdy enough for my Canon 30D, heavy zoom lens and 804RC2 head. I am happy to report that my fears are gone. This tripod is very solid and holds my gear with no problems at all. On firm ground, it's rock solid. It's very light and I can fold it or unfold it in less than 10 seconds. The "flip" locks are great. At a glance, you can see whether they are locked or not. You don't have to "hope" they are locked. If you've been wanting a good carbon fiber tripod that doesn't cost an arm and a leg, this is the one.

This is a terrific tripod that is very light and compact. However, I didn't pay close enough attention to the maximum height and realized upon purchase that it was going to be a little too short for my uses... I returned it and purchased the 55 instead. This would have been a nice travel tripod as it is very light!

I got this tripod along with a fluid head to shoot video with but found that when I'd move the head, the tripod would move as well... On the other hand, this would make a good tripod for still photography. It's very light and easy to use.

You could take this lighweight, well-consturcted tripod to the moon and back. It's easy to pack, setup, take down, and carry back home again. Fine Italian craftsmanship lives on in the 190CXPRO3.

Comments about Manfrotto 190CXPRO3 3-Section Carbon Fiber Tripod Legs (Black):
My old tripod was the 3021 heavy monster bogen tripod. This unit was rock solid but was left home because it literally hurt to use.
The way this one is billed I expected the same stability without the weight.
It is plenty solid as long as you don't extend the center section. I did some macro work with a 70-200 F4 and an extension tube 90 degrees from the ground. With a 2 second exposure even using the time delay there was monster shake from the mirror. With the mirror delay activated I get sharp results with the self timer.
I would like to see the center section stronger and would except the extra weight. What makes this tripod design so excellent is the tilting centersection. However you still need good technique to get great results.
If you want to be more careless get a heavier model.
I am satisfied overall and would recomend this over the 4 section model as you need all the strength you can get and the extra length is a small penalty.
This after all a bargain in carbon tripods and the ability to get spare parts makes this well worth it in the long run.
I hope they make a stronger center as an option in the future.
Oh yes it looks and feels great.
