Gitzo GM-2942 Basalt Monopod - Supports 22 lbs (10kg)
The Gitzo GM2942 Basalt Monopod will support a weight up to 22 lbs and yet still weighs less than 1.2 lb. It utilizes Gitzo's exclusive Basalt material, which is more durable and better at absorbing vibrations than aluminum models with similar dimensions. These legs are tougher than aluminum, yet are 20% lighter.
Created from volcanic rock, Gitzo has utilized the volcanic-based basalt to develop tripods of exceptional performance, stability, and durability. The basalt, a black lightweight rock, is pulverized, then melted at extreme temperature (2732° F) and combined with other materials and spun into a strong fiber which is used to create multi-layer composite tubing. The result is a non-rotating tube of exceptional performance that meets the demands of today's professional photographers.
- Anti-Rotation Leg (ALR) System
- The Anti-Rotation Leg (ALR) system makes it quick and easy to open and close the monopod. Simply turn all of the locking rings at once and the whole leg can be pulled out in seconds.
- G-Lock
- The G-Lock locking mechanism has been completely redesigned in order to achieve a 20% increase in rigidity, faster operation, and stronger, safer leg locking. G-Lock's special design also provides a "gravity lock" effect: the higher the load applied vertically to the leg, the stronger the lock.
- Cushioned Grip
- The upper leg section is padded, for easier handling in extreme weather.
