The Sony UWP-V1 Wireless Lavalier Microphone System replaces its UWP-C series predecessor with enhancements that include a rugged, all-metal chassis and Mic/Line switchable input at the transmitter. PLL-synthesized tuning, space-diversity reception and all other professional wireless features that made the UWP-C series a popular choice, go into the enhanced UWP-V1 system.
The camera-mountable receiver features space-diversity technology which stabilizes reception and minimizes RF interference by selecting the strongest incoming signal. In addition the antennas swivel so that you can achieve even stronger reception. A stereo mini jack output with monitor volume control is featured and both stereo, mini and XLR cables are provided. An LCD display provides channel & frequency information, battery life, RF-input level, audio-output status and accumulated operating time. The receiver operates on 2 AA batteries for up to 8 hours and its compact design and included shoe-mount adapter allows easy mounting to most camcorders.
The improved body-pack transmitter features a microphone and line level input switch. This allows wireless transmission of microphone or line level signals. Like the receiver, the body-pack transmitter also features 188 selectable UHF frequencies and operates up to 8 hours on 2 AA size alkaline batteries. An omnidirectonal lavalier microphone is supplied with this system.

We make fly fishing DVDs and have been having audio problems with the previous VHF wireless mic system we were using. The problem we encountered was interference or total loss of signal once we were more than 50 foot from the camera.
The UWP-V1 has now overcome these problems, in fact it has more than met our expectations. Our first field trials had it working without any problems up to 300 feet away, more than we would ever need - outstanding performance!
Using UHF is a great bonus, as is the vast number of channels you have to choose from to prevent interference from other external sources and we really like the auto search function that will find the first free channel for you.
For our first test we simply used the system straight out of the box, just added batteries, ensured the transmitter and receiver were on the same frequency and away we went.
It is very durable, small to carry around and looks great on the camera. On top of that it all works and works well, what more could you ask for!
The only change I have made is an addition of a small dead cat on the mic - had to make this one - to ensure the wind on some wild rivers was not a problem. During normal conditions the foam mic covers that come with the unit work well.

I use this product for in house recording and production of our training videos. The product works great. Reading the manual is a must. The sound quality, compared to our previous Azden Pro Wireless System is much, much better. The only complaint is that the sender and receiver have to be a certain distance apart in order for them to work properly...took me a while to figure this out, and it was a little frustrating. I would not recommend this system for anyone recording in small space or room.

Comments about Sony UWP-V1 Wireless Lavalier Microphone Package (30/32 - 566 to 590MHz):
I was looking for a UHF wireless lav system, but didn't want to spend $ for the Sennheiser G3. This Sony system works great! I use it running into a Juicedlink DS214 along with a shotgun mic when I use my DSLR. I haven't had any issues. This system uses a diversity receiver that chooses the strongest signal between the dual incoming signals, then sends that signal to output device. This means that your chances of a bad signal are less. Great features for a great price! Don't hesitate to buy this!

Comments about Sony UWP-V1 Wireless Lavalier Microphone Package (30/32 - 566 to 590MHz):
I'd been debating getting this mic and then I landed a gig literally inside a storage garage. Ambient noise pollution was terrible, and I do most of my gigs solo, so I picked up this lavalier package from Sony.
After figuring out how to sync the mic and the receiver (read the manual!), I was really, really pleased with the quality this mic produced. Totally worth the price, I'll be getting a lot of use out of this.

I've been using the ZoomH4n which is great but needed to speed up my workflow and avoid syncing in post. I purchased the Audio Technica wireless set up and it was awful. I returned it and purchased this and have been blown away by the quality!
I use a 5dmk2 so monitoring was a must out of the receiver. The lav mic this comes with is superb. The sound is really great and even being in a high tech building I never get interference.
The build quality is top notch and the battery life is fantastic. I couldn't be happier with this set up and it's totally worth the money. 100%!!!

Works perfectly it is small and compact making travel easier. Sound quality is amazing. The wire on the housing to secure to individual is difficult to secure and sometimes pops off. I wish more than one clip was included.

I use this system mostly for sit down interview. It works great straight out the box and gets better when you take time to set it up better.
I haven't tried it yet in bad environment.

Comments about Sony UWP-V1 Wireless Lavalier Microphone Package (30/32 - 566 to 590MHz):
*** Make sure you set the attenuation on the UWP transmitter. ***I didn't know what "attenuation" was the first time I used them. Attenuation is the lowering of the intensity of the transmitter's signal before it hits the receiver's preamp. This is crucial for getting clean sound. Our first time using the mics we clipped the heck out of the sound coming in, really distorting it. The higher the attenuation, the lower the intensity.I found a fantastic video on the Sony website that walks you through the setup and features of the UWP wireless microphone system. I didn't post the link because I wasn't sure BHPhoto would let me, so just go to Sony and look up these mics and you'll see the videos on the UWP-V1 product page in the sidebar or just below the product info. We have two UWP-V1 Wireless Lavalier Microphone Packages for use with our Canon XA10. We'll definitely continue building on this core system with add-on mics and more receivers.

Used this product right out of the box for an video interview for a non-profit organization. The subject could walk anywhere with no problem of reception. The mic is strong enough to pick up background noise, so be careful with that. Otherwise, loving it!

Comments about Sony UWP-V1 Wireless Lavalier Microphone Package (30/32 - 566 to 590MHz):
I bought this to replace an older wireless microphone system that stopped working. I checked a few brands and chose the Sony. I borrowed a similar Sony system when the old unit failed, and it worked great, so this was a natural choice. It has the feel of quality. No inexpensive plastic housing, just solid metal and quality connectors. All the cords and fixtures necessary to get up and rolling are included in the box. I use the system with an HDDSLR for a local TV show and I'm confident I'll get great, usable sound with this new unit. I passed on a bigger name brand which gave me big savings. No complaints.

I am very pleased with the sound quality and the quality of construction with the UWP-V1 Wireless system from Sony. It's far better than my previous wireless system. I use the wireless system with my Sony Handycam video camera to create B2B videos. I would highly recommend this wireless system.

Comments about Sony UWP-V1 Wireless Lavalier Microphone Package (30/32 - 566 to 590MHz):
This lav mic package is the best in its price range I have used. The signal is very clear and the sound is superb, surpassing in my opinion the more expensive Sennheiser. The body pack transmitter has a slim profile making it easy to hide in clothing and the slide out battery compartment on the side makes it very easy to change batteries without having to remove it from the actor. Also, the monitor output on the receiver is an obvious feature for some reason overlooked by many other lav mic sets. The metal chassis feels rugged and solid. Overall a very well designed package. I plan on ordering more of these.

Work great, well built, easy to use. They felt a little cheap when I first took them out of the box, but then I put some batteries in and they felt heavy and solid. Battery tray feels flimsy until you put batteries in, then they feel great. B&H told me these were best quality for the price.
