The Gitzo Series 2 GM2541 6X Carbon Monopod is 4 leg-section model that weighs approximately one pound, but can still support cameras up to 26.4 lb (12 kg). This monopod also incorporates Gitzo's revolutionary 6X technology tube, which reduces overall monopods weight up to 25% without sacrificing strength or stability.
The G-Lock mechanism has been completely redesigned in order to achieve a 20% increase in rigidity, faster operation and stronger, safer locking. G-Lock's special design also provides a "gravity lock" effect: the higher the load applied vertically to the leg, the stronger the lock.

Comments about Gitzo Series 2 GM2541 6X Carbon Monopod - 4 Section with G-Lock:
This is a light, efficient workhorse. Superb workmanship and design, this tool defines elegance. It is ideal for photographing wildlife with the 80 to 400 mm Nikon zoom or anything else where ease of mobility is required while using a long lens. I am 5'11" and it is more than adequate in length. I use it with the Manfrotto 234 monopod head; a heavier lens would probably need a more substantial head.

Comments about Gitzo Series 2 GM2541 6X Carbon Monopod - 4 Section with G-Lock:
Much better than the aluminum hiking stick I had been using as a monopod. Steady and lightweight with a nice handle that can clip onto a belt or be hung from the wrist. Gitzo says it shouldn't be used in salt water, so I suppose I'll have to try to wrap the lower part in plastic when using it at the ocean.

Comments about Gitzo Series 2 GM2541 6X Carbon Monopod - 4 Section with G-Lock:
Intended for use with a camcorder for additional support in a crowded situation when a tripod is not practical. Also will be used with a 70-200 f2.8 lens. I am 5'-8" and when the monopod is fully extended, it is actually too tall for me. Very sturdy but light weight. I appreciate the 4 leg section design because each leg is actually usable. Anti Leg Rotation design really works well.

Comments about Gitzo Series 2 GM2541 6X Carbon Monopod - 4 Section with G-Lock:
Pretty hard to review an item like this, it's basically a stick, a very expensive stick. I happen to love Gitzo carbon for all my support, so I have nothing bad to say about it. It's super light, very sturdy, and relatively quick to setup and use. I wish Gitzo would come up with something that was an improvement over the Manfrotto NeoTec, as speed is something extremely important to me in monopod design, and while G-lock is great, it's still a twist and a pull or one or two legs to get the camera in the position you want it. If you're looking for light and stable, this is an obvious choice. If you're looking for speed in adjusting, it's no different from any of the other models out there.

Comments about Gitzo Series 2 GM2541 6X Carbon Monopod - 4 Section with G-Lock:
Very light weight. I currently do not use this as much as I thought I would but it helps alot when I shoot all day at sporting events. Makes a big difference just having something to take some of the weight off your arms and back. It is very durable. If you have the extra money then it is worth getting better quality. You get what you pay for!! Excellent product!! I would not recommend replacing a tri-pod with this as it moves with your movement. (Just incase you were wondering.)And be sure to pick up a swivel tilt head.

This monopod is about 20 inches folded and fits my carry on bag. Very easy to use and best of all lighter than my aluminum monopod about 25 inches folded. I use this monopod for HS sports with my 80-200 and a D700. I am going to bring this in my travels and know I will have fun with it.

Comments about Gitzo Series 2 GM2541 6X Carbon Monopod - 4 Section with G-Lock:
A little on the expensive side for a monopod, but as always in the film and photo world you definitely get what you pay for.
I was skeptical about the G-Lock feature. Try it though. I can put all of my body weight on it while extended and it doesn't budge. Plus there is a lifetime warranty. Those are worth their weight in gold.

Comments about Gitzo Series 2 GM2541 6X Carbon Monopod - 4 Section with G-Lock:
I am shooting high school wrestling with a knock off wide aperture 300 mm lens and a camera mounted strobe. Some shoots last up to 8 to 10 hours. The monopod is an elegant piece of equipment that enables me to stay steady and relatively fresh while shooting hundreds of images. Light and maneuverable.

I use my monopod in downtown Boston where tripods are not allowed. I have also taken it on trips instead of the tripod. It is light weight and easy to carry.

Comments about Gitzo Series 2 GM2541 6X Carbon Monopod - 4 Section with G-Lock:
I have had this for a few weeks and have used it successfully for basketball, walking around a park looking for birds and a children's theatre production with a 7D and 300/2.8. I was sitting on the sideline for basketball and sitting in a seat about 25' from the stage for the theatre. It was great to not have to fight the other parents crowding around the stage with their point and shoots to try and get a decent photo. The ability to adjust it to fit my height (5'11") is great - I think the 3 section would have been too short. It is easy to adjust the height and the carbon fiber is great for bare hands in cold weather.I use gitzo QR plates but didn't want to bother with a head on this monopod so I took off the top round seat and screwed in a Gitzo GS3760C QR adapter. I added a few nylon bushings from [@] in between the top of the monopod and the bottom of the QR adapter to stabilize and it has been rock solid with the 300/2.8 IS I mentioned above. It is also great for transporting the 300 - just leave it attached to the monopod and let it rest on you shoulder with the lens hanging over your back. The rubber hand grip makes a decent pad for medium distances (1-2 miles).

Comments about Gitzo Series 2 GM2541 6X Carbon Monopod - 4 Section with G-Lock:
I already own the GT3541L for my 5D II, so I already know what a quality tripod is, but I do find that it is very heavy and bulky, and not really suitable when trying to keep under the airlines baggage limits. So with weight being my primary concern, I still wanted a sturdy support. With that in mind, I purchased the GM2541. All I can say is that this thing is light, but being constructed from carbon fibre, it is still super strong. It comes with a cool strap that I can clip onto my backpack and carry it with ease. It's also easy to extend and shorten but you do have to be careful, I have pinched myself on the g-locks a few times when I first got my tripod, but once you have the muscle memory, it is very smooth. Once you get this monopod, you will wonder how you ever did without it. I use it with my 100mm macro, and I find that I can get the shot that I want without too much bother.
