I bought this item for use with a Sennheiser ME-66 short Mic, and a Sony PCM-D50, so I am not a professional by any stretch of the imagination, however I am into field recording and I do care about the quality of sound I can get within the constraints of my small budget. For me this has been a process of elimination, buying gear and realizing that its not going to make the grade and selling it or exchanging it along the way. This cable was one of those purchases as I needed a simple cable to go from the Mic to the recorder or an XLR to mini-jack, and and BH search came up with a few products and this was for about twenty bucks. It does exactly what I was looking for, and more then I was expecting as I had initially purchased it with an eye to finding out more about what it was I needed to get a mono mic to relay through both headphone channels for monitoring purposes, anyway this thing does that, and it cost me a whopping break-the-bank [...]

I bought this cable along with a new AT897 shotgun mic and for two weekends of filming I could not use my new mic. Tried everything, finally discovered it was this cable. It has a loose metal spring on the front to release tension on the cable, this spring was shorting out the cable and making contact with the leads on the cable. Cost me two shooting days without my new mic. Extremely unhappy.

This item was in included in a shotgun mic kit. The Mic is the NTG-2 Shotgun. Also included was a shock mount. I don't have much use for it, but as far as I'm concerned, it's a tool and it's on the shelf whenever or if I never need it. Bottom line, it's a positive little free-bee with the mic kit.

I use this transformer to connect my shotgun mic to my Panisonic digital camcorder. The length is perfect, keeping the cord out of the way of my lens. Good connection quality. I would recommend.

This adapter works fine - I did not have any problems connectiong my AT897 to GH2 with it. I just wish it was angled because it is not too small or light and adds not jsut to the weight but also to the length of the mictrophone. But it seems the only one I could find and it does the job well. It is a more affordable way to attach an XLR mic to a DSLR rather than buyng a preamplifer, which costs at least ten times more and is much heavier.

I use this cable to connect my RODE NTG-2 into a preamp and then run that into a Canon 5D Mark ii for doing video.... I also use this cable to run directly from the mic to a Zoom H4n recorded and sometimes straight into the camera. The cable works great for many applications where you need to plug a mic with an XLR output into a device with an 3.5mm input jack.
Good product overall!

Bought this wire to connect my Rode NTG2 directly to my 7D when doing some quick guerilla style shooting. The wire works great, feels durable and is reliable. Good wire, but there's no monitoring on your levels in the 7D so you'll need a plugin like Magic Lantern or something for that.

Sometimes you have to cross the chasm. Meaning you have to use professional audio equipment with, for example, a PC.
This device lets you do it. It works very well.

it's very well made and looks like its gonna last for long. I like the audio signal that comes through this tiny thing. would buy this again instead of the cheap ones out there. Hope this helps. Oh and very important is that the 3.5mm connector is small enough to fit any DSLR, which is my case.

I came across this product in time. Just what I needed. The sound quality is good. I would sat it's for interviews and live situations where you need good sound. I would not use this for professional recordings.

Critical piece of equipment to integrate our new Headset with our video camera so that our Commentators have proper audio when calling our hockey games live on the internet.

I used this with a RODE NTG-2 and Canon t3-i. Works great but you still deal with problems of the AGC. But if you want to use an xlr mic with a DSLR this is great.

I use this for plugging in a mic into my 60D for shooting video and I couldn't be happier. We use the zoom H4n to record most audio, but when in a hurry or on a tight schedule plugging audio directly into a DSLR can be a great option. Better than I expected, as I heard there is usually a terrible hiss and have found that the audio sounds clean. Very Happy.
