Comments about Nexto DI Nexto eXtreme (160GB):
This device is very fast and easy to use. As a wedding photographer, I need a device that is fast and reliable. The Nexto Extreme is just such a product. It can download a 4gb cf card in about 2 minutes, much faster than my laptop. I highly recommend this product.

Comments about Nexto DI Nexto eXtreme (160GB):
First: I didn't buy this for backup only. I wanted this harddisk with copy function to improve my work-flow as a photographer. So according to my thoughts - it works well.
When shooting editorial sports. I want to have a fast workflow. With this harddisk - I can "copy" the images from the CD/SD-cards during "the game"/action. And when I'm ready for working with images (e.x. photoshop) - i use the e-sata connection to have optimized speed with an external harddrive, and not copying files from CF/SD-card to internal harddrive and then work. I think that this workflow saves me 10-15 minutes if I have like 1000 images to start viewing.
This might be a compact harddrive for many poople, but I find it a little big, because I want to have it in jacket/beltpocket. It is easy to use, even with only one button. But I have mostly done only the "backup"-function.
The cons is in fact the cable from the harddrive (e-sata) to the laptop, and the need of extra usb to have enough electricity.
I bought the leather case. It protects the Nexto, but i find it stupid to open the case to insert the CF-card. this should be easier.
In general I recommend this, but I havent done much testing with a lot of backup and batterytest, that might be a limitation for some photographers travelling...

Comments about Nexto DI Nexto eXtreme (160GB):
I bought this Nexto DI as a backup for the first one I bought over a year ago. I highly recommend the unit. It is FAST backing up from CF card - 8 GB and verified in 4 min or so. I had a Wolverine before it stopped working and it took three times as long. A friend has a JoBo and it backs up about like the Wolverine - painstakingly slow. Plus both those units are USB 2.0 interface which is 1/3 speed of eSATA. The Nexto has eSATA interface making uploads to the PC very quick.
It is very easy to use and I love the easy to follow menu. Set up is a breeze. From the box to use in a few minutes. I have had no problems at all with the first unit and expect this one to perform equally well. I've backed up over 5,000 RAW files so far. The batteries easily last thru a full 8 GB backup and charge quickly. It also comes with a nice carrying case which provides adequate protection. It is compact and lightweight and travels easily and can be taken with you on hikes, etc.
I have no cons for this product or suggestions for improvement.

Comments about Nexto DI Nexto eXtreme (160GB):
Working as a Wedding Photographer I sometimes face the 'very big wedding', ones where the action begins very early in the morning and ends very late at night. I have 12x4Gig cards (I picked the 4gig so I can transfer them directly to a Standard DVD for archiving raw pictures) and since I normally shoot like crazy I once ran out of cards! Thus began the search for a portable storage device, which lead me to the Nexto. There are other devices that cost less, but it is the speed of the drive that makes this one so fantastic (you can hear the hum when it starts to work). I can transfer 1x4gig card in under 4 minutes, about the time it takes to savour a smooth glass of champagne. As soon as I get to the reception I now start to download the morning shots so I can re-use those CF cards if needed. Hooking it up to my PC was easy, since Nexto supplies the necessary cables. The only bad thing is the provided carry pouch (if you want to hook it to your belt; not needed if you stuff it into you camera bag) which is a very flimsy nylon material that likes to snag on the corners of the Nexto. Also, you would be terrified if you had the Nexto in its case and accidentally dropped it on a hard floor. All they need is a tougher padded Cordura material and it would be perfect.
One Video Note: My best friend works as a Video Producer, and I took one of his SCHC video cards and transferred about 2 gigs of video clips directly into the Nexto, and from there to my PC. Again, very smooth with no glitches at all. It so impressed him he might decide to buy the upper end Video Version.

Comments about Nexto DI Nexto eXtreme (160GB):
This product backs up your cameras photos / movies either directly form the CF or SD card, or by plugging in the USB cable and transferring the pictures that way.
I have owned 2 Vosonic units before, and this device is that much faster. Testing my 32GB Sandisk Extreme card, I managed to back up the whole card in 19 minutes. On my Vosonic the same card took 4.5 hours to back up. It really is that much faster.
Rather than buying a lot of CF or SD cards, buy one of these units when you go on vacation and back up your card each night and you are ready for the next days shooting.

Comments about Nexto DI Nexto eXtreme (160GB):
I shoot in raw and every time I went on vacation I'd carry my laptop so that I don't run out of space. I had a couple of cf cards go bad over the last 5 years and carrying a lot of cf cards wasn't an option i was comfortable with.
I like the fact that the nexto is easy to carry, charge and transfer files. I find the UI a bit primitive but it is pretty effective. Transfer speeds are quite impressive too. I haven't used any other device so not sure how it compares to others.
