There is a new firmware to Leopard 10.5 in the site to resolve the problem that crash the MAC OS.

Comments about Sonnet Pro Dual Compact Flash Adapter ExpressCard/34:

I use this on my Mac unibody. I mean crash with a notice that says something akin to "press and hold your power key to recover..." I complained to Sonnet about this product crashing my laptop back in like May 2009. They finally came out with a "fix". Well, the fix didn't fix the crashing. Now I see they say if one has > 4G of RAM, it's "temporarily not recommended". Yeah, because they still haven't fixed it. Their website now also says currently not Snow Leopard compatible. Well, it is on my Mac (again with the caveat of the crashing). I didn't return it (as they say they'd allow) only because when it doesn't crash, it works very well. But, my workaround includes making sure nothing is happening on my machine other than doing a straight copy from the card to my desktop. I then use that folder to import into Lightroom. Makes the workflow slower of course.

I use two old 1G (or smaller if I can find them) cards to store the unit in my laptop bag because I foresaw the possibility of bending the pins.

I selected "No" as a recommendation, but it does work well if it doesn't crash, and perhaps it's really only a Mac with > 4G issue. Otherwise I would recommend it.

Fastest way to transfer images from CF cards. It doesn't advertise Vista compatability but works great on my Dell Vista laptop.

Comments about Sonnet Pro Dual Compact Flash Adapter ExpressCard/34:

I really want to give this thing 5 stars, but there's one fault in the design that makes me have to down grade the rating.

It's fast, works with NO bugs, unlike the Delkin model that is so buggy I had to throw it away, and it takes two cards at a time. How cool is that.

Now for the design flaw. I threw this in my bag with all my other card readers and when I pulled it out (during a trip in Sudan) two of the pins in the number 2 slot had been pushed over into two other pins. This shorted the reader out when I tried to use it, I think it also crashed the computer. After finding the issue, I was able to ply them back into position. Now I can use the #1 slot without problems, though my #2 slot seems damaged beyond hope.

So the reason I feel this is a design flaw is that unless it comes with some kind of cap or other protector, it should be able to be thrown into a bag with other misc items without worry it will be damaged. The mouth of the reader is so wide now (b/c it accepts two cards side by side) it exposes the pins to damage.

It's only a matter of time now until other pins on the reader are damaged and it's rendered useless.

Sonnet, you got a great thing going here. Please design this with some cap over the end that can swing out of the way (still attached) when you are using it.
