The nanoKEY from Korg is a slim line USB keyboard controller (about the size of an Apple computer keyboard) that despite its size provides very functional keyboard triggering of a software based sound-generating device. The 25 velocity sensitive keys can respond with 4 distinct velocity curves that allow for various playing styles, while the octave "Up" and "Down" buttons provide access to the full MIDI note range.
Pitch and modulations buttons provide a preset amount of pitch change and modulation, but can also be programmed for faster or slower pitch bends, or in the case of the modulation button, the control change number, and the values that will be transmitted. When set to CC MODE, each key of the nanoKEY can generate distinct MIDI control data.

Comments about Korg nanoKEY - USB-MIDI Keyboard Controller (Black):
This product is plug-and-play. Garage Band and Logic recognized it immediately. It's definitely handy and does exactly what it says it will do--including velocity sensitive keyboard. One thing that is NOT good[...]. I needed a quick portable midi keyboard for a presentation that night so I took my chances and bent it the other way until it was adequately flat. It seems to work fine.

I may not use the cc mode button very much (never so far), but it is awesome to be able to listen and play around with the notes like a real keyboard.

Comments about Korg nanoKEY - USB-MIDI Keyboard Controller (Black):
I use the nanoKey for home recordings, laying down tracks to accompany myself on acoustic instruments. The keyboard works surprisingly well. Despite being based on a laptop keyboard rather than piano keys, creating dynamics and playing quicker runs is easy enough.
Some reviews have highlighted breakable parts, but this has not been an issue so far. As you can usually get it below the price of the Akai LPK25, it nicely fulfills expectations.

Comments about Korg nanoKEY - USB-MIDI Keyboard Controller (Black):
Good:
Exquisitely sleek and compact. Fantastic for notation and step input. Octave shift buttons and LEDs are simple. Began playing into Sibelius and GarageBand with zero setup. Finer settings can be tweaked with Korg's downloadable software. Essentially a computer keyboard designed to be a musical keyboard.
Bad:
Impressive that it's velocity sensitive, but this has a tradeoff: the keys don't click like those of a computer keyboard, they "squish" in order to detect velocity. It's difficult to predict what velocity you'll get, and if your strike angle is too far off, the key won't send a MIDI message at all – it feels somewhat like learning how to use a laptop's trackpoint.

Comments about Korg nanoKEY - USB-MIDI Keyboard Controller (Black):
Very well-designed, ultra-portable midi keyboard. The nano series are brilliant products for composition on the go. Has been ideal so far for writing/arranging drumline music anywhere I want or need to. Control change mode with the downloadable software from Korg would make this a great, cheap, simple addition to any live electronic music arsenal, as well. Black finish also looks great next to my black Asus Netbook. Very light but not exceedingly flimsy. Very easy to use. Can't wait to get the nanoKontrol soon.

Comments about Korg nanoKEY - USB-MIDI Keyboard Controller (Black):
It fits right next to my regular keyboard at my desk, and for that I love it. I can easily switch into making music at any minute. it does feel like laptop keys though - but that should be obvious from the dimensions and materials.
