The Benro B-1 Ballhead features a machined head with a quick release adapter that adheres to the venerable Arca-type quick release standard. With a 36mm diameter ball sphere rated to hold an impressive 26.4 lbs, the B-1 can handle SLR systems of any type, with lenses as large as ~300mm . It achieves this capacity despite a weight of only 12.7 oz (360g).
Rather than having one friction control and a complicated thumbscrew to set a minimum tension, Benro chooses the more traditional route of distinct mechanisms with lock/unlock and friction setting functions. There's also a separate lock for the panning axis, and the panning axis itself is appropriately dampened for the type of gear on the B-1.
