The ECM-CG1 from Sony is a directional microphone that can be mounted on the shoe of a video camera. It's compatible with any camera or portable recorder that features a 3.5mm mini-plug microphone input. It will improve the sound quality and directionality over the video camera's built-in microphones.
It includes a mount that fits into a standard camera shoe. The mount has an extended arm that helps keep the microphone out of the frame of the lens, and away from other devices such as on-camera lights. The ECM-CG1 features a short cable that will not sag or droop when mounted on a camera.
