This Elinchrom Ranger Quadra Reflector Adaptor for EL Reflectors is required when using any other reflector in the Elinchrom line other than the Quadra reflectors. It features a built-in, sturdy stand adaptor for supporting the larger reflectors and softboxes in the line and reducing stress on the small RQ head.

The reflector adaptor is necessary to use the Quadra heads with any standard softboxes or octas. You simply have to have it. Overall, it is made very well. However, like Elinchrom states, it can only be used with softboxes of a certain size. The issue is weight. Too much weight and the unit will begin to lean down and will not hold its position. Since there is no other choice at this time, it gets four stars. If there were a better choice, hopefully cheaper, then you might want to look there. The construction is metal, stainless where needed, and some plastic. Overall, pretty good.

Especially being swiss, I think these were rush to market, as a previous reviewer stated it tended to lean over and the clamp area should have made better made. Pivot point uses rubber to grip, and it barely works, forcing one to clamp with more force, with plastic construction, somewhat dicey. I modified mine by taking a set of what look like metallize rubber from a pair of stobes, the pivot point are more secure and clamp with more authority. Also bits of flashing had to be cleaned up and no instruction came in the box. In the end since these just hold the strobes, I cannot believe they made a more rugged version for the versatile Quadra units. I guess in the end a Company has to decide about profit margin I guess.

Comments about Elinchrom Ranger Quadra Reflector Adaptor for EL Reflectors:
Once you've the Deep Octa with a Ranger Quadra, it's not likely you'll ever want to use another brand of light modifier again. The Reflector Adaptor is the only way to use both. If you need two, get three. For those rare but almost inevitable times that wind or humanity knocks your light stand to the ground, the adapter seems to sustain the most damage. Better the adapter than the light itself.

Comments about Elinchrom Ranger Quadra Reflector Adaptor for EL Reflectors:
A must have if you want to use regular modifiers. I used this with a 39" Deep Octa to mount the Quadra A-head. You have to watch the sharp edges inside when mounting the head. I can see why some people breaks the arm (there's a Manfrotto mod on the net) as the material can get weaken from repeated use or over tightening.

Comments about Elinchrom Ranger Quadra Reflector Adaptor for EL Reflectors:
I am not sure if it is as flimsy as some of the other reviews suggest, but it is not as sturdy as the light modifier mounts on studio strobes.
It is a little awkard to attached the Quadra head onto this mount and there is no protection or cover for the flash tube when no softbox or reflector is attached (which you have for the quadra head in the standard reflector.
It would have just been easier if Elinchrom just made the mount part of the quadra head, instead of the smaller mount that fits the very limited number of modifiers specific to the Quadra Ranger.

I use it to attach my Quadras to my Photoflex LiteDome soft boxes. Seems a little pricey, though, for what it is. But if you have to have it...

Comments about Elinchrom Ranger Quadra Reflector Adaptor for EL Reflectors:
Does the job - holds my 39" Deep Octa or a 27" Maxisoft without issues so far. I agree with other reviews out there that it seems a little flimsy. If Elinchrom could have just made it sturdier they'd have a great solution for the small size of the Quadra and the need for big modifiers sometimes. Only had it for a couple weeks now so we'll hope it lasts. Expensive for what it is though!

I use this for teh 39" Deep Throat Rotalux and that is the limit for this adapter as far as size/weight goes. It just seems to flex more than it should for what you pay for it.

This is a must have for the Quadra in order to use a long throw reflector. It's not quick and easy to set up and loosing screws is too easy.

Comments about Elinchrom Ranger Quadra Reflector Adaptor for EL Reflectors:
The Rangers are great lights and the ability to use modifiers is essential. These adapters very simply allow for the mounting of modifiers...not too much to review. The one thing I will say is that they are not easy to remove. Attaching them isn't bad, but it's a struggle to remove them.

Comments about Elinchrom Ranger Quadra Reflector Adaptor for EL Reflectors:
This is my first review as I felt compelled. First, let me say this is a necessary item if you wish to use any light modifiers except for the small soft box made for the quadra head. It's a fairly simple product and is pricey for what it is. I used it only a handful of times and it worked fine. While setting up for an assignment and planning to use a mid sized Elinchrom octa, I was securing this adapter to my c-stand and the tightening screw literally ripped the plastic housing off the aluminum underneath leaving me no way to secure the adapter to my light stand. This is something I never expected, but it appears to be a poor assembly issue. I have yet to contact Elinchrom. [...] This piece should be bulletproof and apparently it's not. SO..I would recommend as it's necessary until another option arrives, but be very careful with it as it can break without notice.

I bought the adapter so that I could use a 53" Elinchrom Octo Bank with my Elinchrom Ranger Quadra. It works as expected and I would give it five stars if it was not for the price. It's a little more pricey than I expected.

Can't go with out it. Enable to attach all Elinchrom light shaping tools to your Quadra flash head.
Mechanic implementation could be a bit more stronger. But light weight enough for easy travel.

The basic quadra sports a small head, so this is essential if you want to use elinchrom reflectors and softboxes. I have several of these now and they are recommended, if not essential!

Comments about Elinchrom Ranger Quadra Reflector Adaptor for EL Reflectors:
After 2 uses the plastic surrounding the screw where it slides on a light stand pulled out while tightening to a lightstand. making this completely useless to mount on a boom. the part that pivots and mounts to the light stand is flimsy. I had a the part that broke machined out of Aluminum with a heavier duty screw and no problems

Comments about Elinchrom Ranger Quadra Reflector Adaptor for EL Reflectors:
There is an issue with coupling. The adapter does not easily fit on and is very difficult to take off. I have another which is slightly easier than this, but Elinchrom definitely has a quality control issue regarding spec dimensions of this product. I am going to try to determine how I can create a looser fit. I like Elinchrom, but a segment of their product as sub-par for the cost to the consumer.
The softbox fits the unit fine, however, and if plan to rarely remove the adapter, you won't be as annoyed.
