The Black Rapid RS-5 Camera Strap (Black) is a lightweight and low profile strap with a sizing adjustment located on the front for quick adjustments. The R-Strap is worn diagonally across the torso from shoulder to hip and is adjustable to fit most photographers. The locking FastenR connects the strap to the tripod socket located on either the camera body or the lens. Once connected, the camera hangs upside down, resting securely at the side or in the small of the back, with the lens pointing behind.
The RS-5 strap has a front pocket for carrying a smart phone, large battery, walkie-talkie, or similar sized items. There is a pocket on the top of the pad that opens up to store 9 or more memory cards, ID, credit cards, etc. The pockets close and open silently thanks to padded Neodymium magnets.

After getting more pro style lenses which are heavy and large, I actually started shooting fewer shoots because golding the camera and a large lens became awkward while walking or hiking in broken terrain. A neck strap would cause the heavy combination to bounce against my chest unless held with one or both hands. A neck strap with a heavy camera/lens is a real pain in the neck. The solution for many is keeping the camera in a backpack to allow stability and balanced carrying.I had a good strong backpack and it allowed me to take the camera everywhere. Only problem was the I needed to stop and inconveniently get to the camera so many opportunities were missed due to the scene changing too rapidly such as coming upon animals or birds that needed a rapid response to get the shot before the moved out of position. My preference was street candids which made the backpack too much of a pain to get to the camera.Enter the Black Rapid RS-5. The demo videos looked promising so I ordered one.[...] I hooked it up, and went out shooting with a Nikon 70-200VR f/2.8 lens attached to my D90 with grip and extra batteries. The RS-5 built-in strap pouches allowed my cell phone, extra batteries and several memory cards to be available quickly. The result of learning a new way to carry a camera allowed getting shots that needed immediate response. It allowed the camera to be carried with almost no perceived weight, and faster response than a neck strap. It allowed hands free walking, climbing stairs and better stability over rough paths. One the first use I became one of those "why didn't I think that?" moments. Of all the accessories I've tried to help my photography, this strap gave the best return on investment, and improved photo results.I highly recommend this strap for anyone who carries larger lenses, who needs instant access to their camera or needs to walk and maneuver with ease and balance. Get it, your neck muscles will thank you and you will use your camera more.I use it every day whenever I don't need a tripod, such as during studio portrait sessions, events, sports, and general walking-around photography.

I purchased this right before taking a trip to disney world. While I like the concept I see some room for improvement. I like not having a camera around my neck and this fits the bill. I could wear this every day. The two areas that I found lacking are the tendancy for the pad to slip and the rotating of the camera while in the down position.
First I found that unless I was wearing my fleece pullover the camera's weight when locked behind me would cause the strap to slip. This could certainly be improved by a silicon pad underneath to provide the necessary friction. I am already looking at adding that to mine.
The second issue is the swiveling the camera does when walking with it at or behind your hip. I put so many finger prints on my glass that it became a nuisance keeping it clean and missing some nice shots while I wiped the lens. Not sure how to fix this one yet. Overall though it is growing on me. Not a fan of the magnets for the clasps as it limits being able to carry my license and credit cards there.

Comments about Black Rapid RS-5 Camera Strap:
I primarily use it for a D700 + Grip + 70-200mm.
The additional storage slots are great but capacity isn't that big (don't depend on it to hold anything with too much depth - intended for memory cards only). The front pocket for iPhones/Android/Blackberry will only fit if the protective casing is removed from the phone. But enough about the secondary fuctions.
As a camera strap - works extremely well. I comfortably carried the setup mentioned above for 4 hours straight without a hitch. The camera can be tucked away behind you or to your side while still allowing you to bring it up easily and quickly for a shot.

Comments about Black Rapid RS-5 Camera Strap:
Carrying the camera is no longer a pain- rather a joy-- by your side one moment and taking your eyes view the next--
It carries securely and hangs by your hand/arm as you choose. It lets you move through crowds-knowing it is secure but ready to use.
Best strap system for me over the past 30 yrs.

Comments about Black Rapid RS-5 Camera Strap:
I bought this strap to use with my Nikon d7000. I have been using my 300 f4 lens + 1.4 teleconverter, and the strap has significantly decreased the shoulder pain I used to feel when carrying that combo. It is very easy to use and feels sturdy. I love being able to put my cell phone, car key, and an extra battery in the pocket.
My only small complaint is that the shoulder part of the strap does seem to slip down when I hold the camera up to my eye (especially when I have lot of stuff in the pockets - the weight pulls the strap off the shoulder). This is a small complaint and I am getting better about preventing it. Overall, I would definitely recommend this strap, it is very comfortable and a huge improvement to my Nikon strap.

Comments about Black Rapid RS-5 Camera Strap:
This is a great camera strap. It is much for comfortable than the neck ones. Has a few extra pockets for small things such as memory cards and a music player (size of an iPhone) and that is all - well balanced. It comfortably hold ma' 1D MK3 in place with a 50mm or a 17 - 40mm attached.
My complaints would be it does not often 'reposition too easily' and needs something extra to hold it in place when moving quickly. Or perhaps climbing to get that shot! Though it does everything else expect of it quite well.

Comments about Black Rapid RS-5 Camera Strap:
I have been searching for a strap that could hold my cell phone, extra battery and memory cards when on a photoshoot. This is the strap! It holds everything nicely and I like the magnetic closure because it is quiet during weddings. It takes a little getting use to the position of the camera and where it hangs if you are use to a traditional around-the-neck strap, but this stap feels better on your neck and shoulders at the end of the day. I don't think I could ever go back to my old strap after this one.

Comments about Black Rapid RS-5 Camera Strap:
Very comfortable to wear. It is a little scary to have you camera dangling upside down at first. you quickly realize that it is probably more sturdy than your old neck strap. A must for any photographer that is constantly on the move, but might need quick access to their camera at the drop of a hat.

Comments about Black Rapid RS-5 Camera Strap:
I have only owned this strap for a couple of weeks, but its AWESOME. Shot 400 pictures with it at a local airshow. It works great when attached to the bottom of the camera, as well as the tripod mount on large lenses. My camera is so much easier to pack away, or change lenses, with the old fashioned neck strap removed. You have to see the strap video's on their website to show how the straps work. Once you see them, you'll buy asap.

Comments about Black Rapid RS-5 Camera Strap:
This strap is the best one that I have tried. For walking around this strap is great as you can adjust were it hangs at your side and it eliminates the neck chafe that standard straps cause. The strap also holds my iPhone and spare memory cards in the shoulder pocket part of the strap.
Would highly recommend this strap.

Comments about Black Rapid RS-5 Camera Strap:
This strap came very well packaged with a nice case for storage. It is easy to attach to the camera initially and between uses. However, it takes some time to remove the connector that screws into the tripod mount on your camera or lens when mounting to a mono/tripod.
It is comfortable to carry a large body camera with a heavy lens, like the Canon 70-200mm, for a whole day. It is easy to adjust and I appreciate the extra space to store memory cards, GPS tracker, and other small items.

Got to use this for the first time on a trip to Singapore, in 90 degree heat w/ high humidity the strap was comfortable to wear all day. The built in pockets are great for spare battery / memory cards, little stash of cash.
The front pocket might fit an iphone, but did not come close to fitting my HTC Thunderbolt

I have the canon 5D markII. I've tried many rigs and straps. The standard camera strap is a pain. it bounces all over your chest and pulls on your neck. I tried the rubbery ones but no help on the bounce problem. this black rapid was the answer. It leaves the camera in a good location to grab and shoot, yet very comfortable while walking around. The extra storiage is also a good design, my cell phone fits perfect. I'm just plain happy with this thing. Great ideA guys.

Comments about Black Rapid RS-5 Camera Strap:
It's pretty comfortable to wear and a lot more convenient then the Canon hand strap I was using before. The only problem I have is that with an extra camera battery and 4 AA batteries in the top pouch sometimes the magnet doesn't hold and it come falling down when you bend over. Other then that it seems to be doing it's job.

This strap eliminated the strain on my neck even with a large telephoto lens. It makes it easy to carry the camera at my side and then slide it up when I am ready to shoot.
