Comments about Native Instruments KOMPLETE 6 - Virtual Instruments and Effects Bundle:
As a composer for film and performances, I needed an orchestral suite that was good enough for arrangement. What I got was so much more. From rock to electronic to classical genres (and even hip hop and dance music), you get all you need to produce rich and professional tracks. Here is a summary of the instruments I use:
Absynth... unique in all the world for organic, evolving soundscapes, moods and textures (ver. 5 has great new features, too);
Kontakt... incredible sampler with great Vienna Symphonic library sounds, and excellent percussion, stings and more for soundtrack work
Massive... phat new and classic electronic leads, pads, textures, etc.
FM8... a great little arpeggiator that makes laying down rhythmic melodic or percussive riffs or textures very easy to do;
Reaktor... for the true synthesizer geek... limitless possibilities
Battery... if you need to create a beat and a groove, you can do anything imaginable with this thing (provided you have the time... I haven't)
My only complaint is that the articulation options on the strings and orchestral samples are a bit limited (or I haven't figured it out yet). The bundle seems expensive, but it is a fair price if you can settle for using all of it for what you need and not feel compelled to buy all the other great instruments out there, too. The consistency of the interfaces and the patch browser between instruments is a real plus to minimize the learning curve, as well. I will be learning new things for years, I'm sure.
I use it on an iMac 24", 4GB, 2.8Ghz core duo and have not stressed the system too often. Apple Logic, Soundtrack Pro and Abelton Live.
Comments about Native Instruments KOMPLETE 6 - Virtual Instruments and Effects Bundle:
No matter what sound you're going for, this is what you've been looking for. This collection of plugins can produce anything from the smoothest airy pads to the dirtiest evil bass, and everything you can dream up between. The only bad thing about these plugins is: once you have them, if you can't produce the sound you want...well, you just can't blame anyone but yourself.
Doesn't matter your style - this is all you'll need to get the results you demand.
