The Oxygen 61 from M-Audio is a 61-key controller with a built-in MIDI interface and 35 MIDI-assignable knobs, sliders and buttons, all of which provide complete control over any MIDI hardware or software. The keyboard is capable of storing 10 different setups in on-board non-volatile memory, while the Enigma editing software for Mac and PC (free and downloadable) helps manage an infinite number of these.
The controller has what it takes to access all the deep parameters in modern software and hardware - use the 9 MIDI-assignable sliders for software mixer volumes, or as drawbars on a virtual tone-wheel organ. Map the 8 knobs to any synthesizer parameters you want to program or perform with - or to mixer controls like volume, panning and effects send. Assign the buttons to trigger samples and anything else that is MIDI-programmable.
The Advanced Function button allows the keyboard to serve as a data-entry device for controller assignment and similar setup functions, while the front-panel, 3-segment LCD provides the information you need about programming parameters at a glance. Bus-powered operation and a weight of only 9 pounds means that you can use the Oxygen 61 anywhere your computer goes.

This is a very convenient controller. You will have to download the "direct link" files from their website in order to enjoy the advertised "DAW plug and play" feature. But this is a very simple process and you end up with a preset that syncs the keyboard to your software. I use it with Logic Express 8.I miss a bit more info in the user manual about the DAW presets. Seems I've had to figure a lot of things on my own. There are a few things I wish this Kbd did better, but you will always have to consider the price paid. This is a very economical controller and in my opinion, it surpasses the expectations.
I like having transport controls right there on the keyboard. It makes my recording sessions much easier. I dont play keyboards professionally, but I consider this controller to be a great bang for the buck. I havent had it for more than a few days but I am definitely happy with the purchase.

This is a no frills USB midi keyboard controller that works well with DAWs. I am a beginner at making my own music and I think this is a good choice for any beginner who wants to make music on their computer.

I love this midi controller....its so easy to use, nice feel to the keys, and just one usb cord and you're ready to work. I use this with fl studio and even though the direct link with this product is not compatible with fl studio u will have to set your own presets for the playback, stop, record, rewind, fast forward buttons and so on...but it is very simple to do and takes about 5 minutes.

Comments about M-Audio Oxygen 61 - USB MIDI Controller:
This product would be great if it functioned at all correctly. I am not sure even sure how it was running at all in the past few months in my studio. I switched which port it was hooked up to and suddenly, it pretends it's not there any more. Luckily, it doesn't include a MIDI out port so there is no inconvenience of actually being able to use it some way other than through USB. M-audio provides state-of-the-art drivers that are so advanced they will often refuse to work. The workaround to this however, is purchasing another controller that doesn't suffer from being a useless pile of trash.
On occasion, I have found myself wanting to purchase a sledgehammer for the sole purpose of smashing this keyboard into tiny pieces. The energy I find when using this fantastic piece of equipment can only be rivaled (I imagine) by the amount of excitement I might feel if someone were to burn down my house. It seems tough enough to throw down the stairs, in fact I may even try that later on.

I use the Oxygen 61 to both record and play live music. It feels good on the fingers and is pretty simple to use. Great part about it is the DAW allows me to change effects in my recording software without leaving the keyboard.

If you don't need weighted keys, and 61 keys will be enough for you then this is all you will need. Smooth action on the sliders and knobs, nice velocity response, great value.

Spending the amount I spent was worth it because my boyfriend loves this piano. All he does now is make beats he has a lot now. It sound great, the keys are nice n smooth && it works just fine on the program he has. I would recommend it to anyone that loves playing the piano and doesn't mind spending a few bucks.

Plug and play with Logic and Reason. The DAW control and faders work great with a little bit of setting up. Like another reviewer wrote, the keys are a little cheap and some stick up higher than others but it really isn't noticeable. All in all, a great keyboard.

Comments about M-Audio Oxygen 61 - USB MIDI Controller:
With 9 sliders, makes a great controller for soft synth organs like VB3
Only drawback so far is that there's only a single pedal input for a switch pedal, and no controller input. Which means you can't use a pedal to control the volume on your synth organ.
Really great and easy to use editing system.

I have had this keyboard for a couple weeks now hooked up to my laptop that is running Reason 4. All the knobs and sliders are automatically functional once you install the drivers and it really is easy to set up. Everything works as expected. The velocity sensitive keys are nice, but they could use a little more weight. It is a lightweight unit overall, which is great for setting up a temporary practice area. The parts of the keyboard themselves seem to be of pretty solid build, so I hope to get many hours of playing time out of this thing.

M-Audio makes some great products. I would say this is one of many. I mostly use it for synth and basic background tones in my recordings but i've come to love the action on the keys. I can pound out my lines (and with semi-weighted keys you can hear the difference) long after quiet hours. It's great for practice and for playing along. I do wish I had a basic piano sound built in and a DI out. I haven't giged with it yet and I'm wary of having to bring my computer along just to play. I don't think I would buy one again. I'd go for a real synth but if you have limited cash this is a good place to start.

This is a great 61 key controller at this price point. The DirectLink technology that maps the controls to Pro Tools (or other supported DAW) functions makes it all the better.
