Since I already own a powerful desktop, I have little use for a heavy and powerful "desktop replacement" notebook. The low-voltage Core 2 Duo is plenty fast for running just about any desktop application and my occasional work with RAW files off my DSLR in Adobe Lightroom 2 64-bit. In addition to personal use, I'm a field engineer and do HVAC work in buildings. This thing is great to slip into my bag for running Java-based interfaces to diagnose systems.
Cons: The keyboard keys should be a little more curved and they sometimes rattle. Overall, the keyboard is pretty good and has very little to no flex. Also, the trackpad can be a bit touchy at times but not a major issue. Not even bad enough to make me want to get my mouse out of my bad. What it lacks, it makes up for in multi-touch.
I've owned 4 Dell systems (2 Inspirons, 1 Latitude, and 1 Studio XPS). With the exception of the Latitude, the Asus is built far better than any of them. For the money it cannot be beat. Just don't expect Macbook Pro build quality and feel in a notebook that costs half the price.

Pretty Good
Very lightweight but i think i made a mistake innot getting a laptop with a DVD drive. Had to buy a separate drive, which was annoying.

This model is definitely fast! It has some new functions for the mouse, so I had to change the setting to "slower" to get used to it.... And also I thought it's a bit heavy for a netbook. I know it bigger than most netbooks, but it definitely could use some lightening up (on the weight). Other than that - great machine!

Comments about ASUS UL30A-A2 13.3" Notebook Computer (Silver):
This laptop is sleek, in both appearance and performance. It can do image processing, while iTunes is writing CDs to my plug-in DVD burner, without breaking a sweat.
After outfitting it with the external DVD burner, it still cost me $50 less than a local chain retailer is charging for the same-spec ASUS with a built-in DVD drive. The external drive actually works better for me, since my workspace is so limited that there really isn't room to open a built-in unit conveniently.

I am unable to discover anything I really don't like about this laptop. My only slight gripe is - the integrated webcam doesn't appear to be very good. However, I have yet to troubleshoot to ensure this isn't "operator error".
Light. Slick. Good Price. Fast. Capable.

Comments about ASUS UL30A-A2 13.3" Notebook Computer (Silver):
I've been using my ASUS UL30A Series laptop for about 1 full week now of solid use, and I've loved it so far. The amount of storage space (500gigs) is enormous for potential. I store all my new programs I've installed, plus all my movies and music on the storage drive, leaving plenty of room on the C drive. I was mainly using it as a backup computer, but decided to install some games on it to see how the graphics would fare. I installed World of Warcraft and noticed it was slightly choppy while in town, and extremely choppy when raiding with 10 or 25 other players, so don't get it for online play. It's a great entertainment computer for music and movies, the battery life is out of control good for a laptop, I've been able to easily connect to 3 separate wifi networks all in separate homes with ease, and it's extremeeeeely light weight, which is perfect for travel.
I highly recommend this product for the low price offered.
p.s. I didn't notice before I ordered, but it does not come with an optical disc drive. Was no problem though bc i just ordered one online for about $30. The disc drive was also an ASUS product, and it works perfectly also. Great company!

Asus claims a 12 hour battery life when you put it in battery saving mode. I get at least 12 hours! I have used it on and off for days without charging. This is what mobile computing is about. I would buy this again in a second.
The keyboard is nice to type on.
Some cons: the trackpad takes a little getting used to, and you cannot use a kensington-type laptop lock on it.

This computer is so light, and very eye catching! I haven't had it for very long, but it is fast and has great battery charge-(length of time). The graphics are so crisp, and the sound is awesome for a computer. I use it for web surfing and music/gaming.

Comments about ASUS UL30A-A2 13.3" Notebook Computer (Silver):
The only reason I selected this computer was for the express gate function, which boasted a 8 second boot time to a fully functioning internet browser. This is NOT a fully functioning browser as java can not be used with it, therefore it proved to be totally useless for the one thing I needed it for. I am surprised at how both the manufacturer (ASUS) and B&H misrepresented this product.

I use this laptop for mainly web surfing and typing documents. I enjoy this laptop because it is relatively light and has a long battery life. On the downside, it is a little slow, but I've only begun using it and the programs that I've used were ones that required a long time to get done; so I can't say that my conclusion is correct...I'll have to see a month later.

B&H has done it again. [...] Perfect condition. Best price. This ASUS is (IMO) better than the MACbook.

I am a CS student, who travels a lot with my laptop.
I was a bit reluctant to buy ASUS as I've never owned one before.
The ASUS UL30A-A2 turned out to be the perfect laptop for me.
I use it mainly for programming, web browsing, word processing, music and watching movies while on the road.
Only Con is battery life is a little less than advertised, about 9-10 hours. Usually more than enough for me.

I replaced my netbook with this notebook. The idea of a netbook is great but the screen & keyboard size was just to limiting.
This notebook is light weight & fast for the applications I'm running. I am thrilled with the battery life (10+).
Win 7 so far is stable.

The good things are:- Battery life is impressive - Design is good- There was a long discussion of ASUS site forum and [...] regarding problems with WiFi for this model. Fortunately this one was not affected or it has been fixed by Asus – WiFi range is quite good for house usage. The questionable things are:- Touchpad is something they you might like or hate. It's really specific and need time for training for the comfortable usage- Too many useless trial software - Bluetooth absence in the model for US marked could be treating as disadvantage

An excellent laptop compared to my Toshiba. Weight was a big factor and this machine is awesome, really portable. The Computer and Windows setup were a snap to install and the machine worked right our of the box. Keyboard was better than I had reviewed, screen is absolutely great, battery time is extremely impressive. Absolutely no complaints so far.

I use this laptop almost entirely for internet browsing and word processing and it is perfect for me. I'm a student and the long battery life is amazing. I never have to go looking for a plug in order to use my laptop. I have yet to run out of battery during the day. I am currently getting anywhere from 8-10 hours of battery life. It's got excellent battery life, a quick enough processor for my needs, and it's really light and looks gorgeous. I've had this for over a week, and so far no complaints! It's like a netbook with the full power of a laptop!

I bought this notebook as a replacement for my old Acer Aspire and am very happy with the quality, especially the long battery life. As a graduate student I need a computer that is easy to take with me, yet still powerful enough to handle mathematics programs. So far this seems like the perfect choice. The only downside is the lack of DVD drive.
