At a glance this might seem like a very silly product. Let me assure you that only the opposite is true, especially if you have a heavier camera-lens kit. I own a Nikon D7000 and Sigma 70-200 HSM II (which is no longer available), which is my sports/portrait photography kit. Holding onto such a heavy combination throughout a football game, track meet, or photo shoot can and WILL cause even the strongest of people to have sore wrists/arms if hand-held too long. That being said, this strap is great for professional and entry level cameras alike. The ability to quick-draw your camera from your waist for that elusive 'perfect shot' is something not possible with camera bags.
However, like all things in life, there are a few down-sides to the RS-7. Cost is definitely one of them. I'm not going to lie, this was a pretty steep purchase for me considering its a camera strap (despite it being worth every penny). Also, if in close proximity to other people/walls, certain (minor) precautions must be made so that your camera won't hit a wall or another person. The BlackRapid system in general is also not very friendly to those with arthritis. Small parts, involving a fair amount of dexterity, are included and required in order to set things up (I'm pretty young, so this does not affect me yet; just be aware of it in case this applies to you).
Final Thoughts: The convenience that this strap offers cannot be adequately described with words. The only things I can say are pick one up through B&H (because their shipping was VERY fast for me), set it up with your camera, take it out for a spin, and enjoy the added convenience.

I have an RS-5, which is awesome but I wanted something thinner and less bulky. I thought the modular concept would be great, so I bought this sleek RS-7.
Should have noticed before buying -- I don't like that it unbuckles at the BACK, instead of front. I feel like anyone can unclip my strap from behind me and run off with my camera. Not sure if that's likely to happen at any time, but it's just not smart to design it that way.
They also moved the strap adjuster to the back, not the front like the RS-5. I know all this is to accommodate the modular JOEY attachments, but now it's just less ergonomic. I also reviewed the JOEY, decided I don't like it because they close with loud, wide velcro as opposed to the silent magnetic closure on the RS-5.
I think I will return this and just get the RS-4, because if I don't like the JOEY accessory pockets then thetre's no point to having the RS-7. Putting the buckle and adjuster in the back, not front, was a bad decision in my view.

Comments about BlackRapid RS-7 Camera Strap:
I have now used it on a couple of outings including one of several hours in crowds of people tristing and turning it a lot; it performs well. I read reviews about the tripod screw coming loose, and while not impossible the rubber on the connector reduces the likelihood, and (a bit paranoid from reading) I checked continuously and it never came even slightly loose. Am very happy with it, and SO much better than a typical strap.

Semi-pro Photographer -
Things I like - I like the fact that my camera is comfortably at my side with no neck strain and I can quickly get the camera up to my eye for the shot. It is easy to adjust for individual comfort.
Not so great - It should come with at least one pocket for a battery.

This makes carrying my D70 so much easier. I recently used it at a local car show and liked the ease in which I could bring the camera up to shoot a picture. It took the weight of the camera off of my neck to a more comfortable weight distribution on to my shoulder.

Comments about BlackRapid RS-7 Camera Strap:
I don't know why standard camera straps are designed so that the camera hangs from your neck, which is incredibly uncomfortable with a heavy setup. This is so much more comfortable and is easily adjustable so that the camera hangs where it can be easily grabbed. Recommend checking that the attachment screw is tight on a regular basis while in use. Maybe I didn't have it as tight as it should have been, but after an hour or two of use, I found that the screw had loosened.

I would have never thought I'd spend [$]on strap. But I was getting annoyed with traditional neckstraps in general, and I wanted my experience to be different with my new 5D Mark III. This strap is essentially tangle free and doesn't cause any chaffing, mainly because it goes diagonally around your shoulder. The camera is securely fit to the bottom for those of you who are concerned. It makes shooting at a moments notice, convenient. You'll want to get the "Brad" accessory, as it lets you move more freely without worrying about the strap sliding from your shoulder.

Comments about BlackRapid RS-7 Camera Strap:
I read about the RS-7 and watched videos and read reviews. Eventually I bought it. Much to my surprise I had immediate success! I shoot birds with a Canon 100-400mm lens. This lens can get heavy, especially after carrying it around for a couple of hours. I put the RS-7 on and made a quick adjustment then tried a few quick-draws to see how it felt. All good. Then I went out to my favorite birding location and starting taking photos of birds on the ground, in trees and on the fly. Several times I had to stop and remind myself that that I was using something new. It felt so natural I simply forgot about it and was totally focused on the photos. At any rate I finally realized that I was experiencing a state of "unconscious proficiency". Life is good. I would highly recommend this product to anyone that uses their camera in active situations...hiking, birding, sideline sports, photos of your kids at the park, anywhere you will be carrying your camera as much as using it but need to be ready for the fast shot.
Note: I found the concern regarding the screw coming lose from the tripod mount to be unfounded. I didn't have to wet the rubber grommet etc. I did find that with the heavy lens I had to lift the strap off my shoulder once in a while to get it a bit of a rest but I didn't see that as a problem with the RS-7, just a fact of life. The stoppers worked as advertised, so the shoulder pad always came back to the right location on my shoulder. I think the trick here is to make sure you push the camera in a circular motion being sure to keep outward tension as you raise it to your eye and lower it to your hip. I thought the attachment hardware on the tripod mount would get in my way when holding and zooming the lens. This to, was a nonissue.
Good Luck,
Jim C.

Bought it, tried it out for about a week. Don't believe all the internet hype out there about this being the greatest thing since sliced bread. For me it was ok. Comfortable but a little awkward...enough so that mines going up on evilbay. On the positive side, the build quality was good and the padding is comfortable. I almost always have a camera bag with me though and regardless if it's a sling bag, backpack or shoulder bag, this strap is just awkward. Also, the padding makes it bulky, the strap is quite long, and the metal connectors are cumbersome; all of which is frustrating when your trying to quickly stash your camera as you walk.Overall its ok but way overhyped and waaaaaayy overpriced!

This is so much better than any strap that hangs around your neck. Those are fine with a small camera and lens as there is not as much weight or bulk but I shoot a d7000 and battery grip coupled with my favorite lens 70-200 2.8 and that is no fun hanging there. Now with my new RS-7 the camera is at my side and very quick to bring it up to shoot, and guess what.... NO sore neck.

I hated the stock strap that came with my Nikon D7000. So much, that I took it off, especially after I had used it for a couple of hours, while I had my 70-200mm f/2.8 lens attached the my camera. It's just not very balanced and puts a lot of pressure on the F mount.
I saw another photographer using the RS-7 and got one too - I love it! Makes running around with a camera around your neck so much more comfortable!

I use this for sports photography and it is perfect. I used another type before and didn't find that one as useful, this type works wonders. My camera is always in a position that I can easily access it and the mods work great for other gear like cell phones and memory cards.

Comments about BlackRapid RS-7 Camera Strap:
I'll start off with "it is an excellent strap". However, it does have a few drawbacks. 1: I was very excited about a camera strap that would STAY ON MY SHOULDER. And, while walking around, it does just that. But when doing a normal photoshoot, which is 99% of the time at some outdoor location, I typically spend a lot of time in position other than standing upright. I am kneeling, lying on my belly, hanging from a tree branch(lol).... or whatever is necessary to achieve the shot I'm looking for. I keep the strap at "full-length" for comfort and the ease of operation while standing/walking. However, this extra length can become troublesome as you kneal/squat/dangle. I believe that the extra strap included as a part of the RS-Sport Extreme model would have greatly reduced my issues with this problem. I WILL be purchasing the B.R.A.D. accessory strap. 2: I like to change lenses-usually between my f2.8 200mm and wider angle "portrait lens". Once you have attached the fastenR-TI to the mount on the bigger lens, it's all good. The camera hangs level, feels good, etc... BUT, then it's time to pop off that lens and put on another. Until my customers begin to pay me what I'm worth, I will be forced to carry only one $$$$ camera instead of two or three equipped with different lenses. At this point, you are now without a strap on your camera because it is attached to the lens that you just removed. You could (A)Unscrew the fastenR and re-attach it to the camera body itself or, (B)go without a strap. I have choosen to go with "A". Although, securing the strap via the mount on the camera body does throw the balance of the camera off a bit while it's hanging with a 200mm lens attached, it is still an exceptable resolution to the issue. When holding the camera in portrait orientation, the strap mount does sometimes become irritating, but not as irritating as not having a strap on it at all.Overall, I would definitely recommend this strap to someone. But would suggest that they spend the extra $10 on the sport model or purchase the BRAD under-arm strap at the same time.

I got this strap for comfort during some back woods and mountain hiking. The strap that came with my Canon EOS 7D was not comfortable when I would go out on a 2 - 4 hour hike. The RS-7 makes all the difference in the world.
