I absolutely love this drive! I was looking to upgrade to a larger external drive to store my music on; I have thousands of albumbs coverted to MP3 and was running out of room on my old external drive.[...] (And cheaper than I could find it locally!)[...]once here it was a snap to use. I have seen complaints that this drive installs software that "takes over your system." That was not a problem for me. I have my own back-up software and use it as external storage so I didn't need anything that came with the drive. I didn't let it install anything and re-formatted it to suit my needs immediately!

Like the size; also like that I can use this version on my mac & don't need external power since it's powered by the usb port. (If using on mac, you will need to format it using disc utility.) So far, no problems w/ it. Using to store music & photos.

Plug in and begin install built in software.
FYI-if you plan on formatting it to anything other than what the default setting are the seagate software becomes useless.
Other than that its very simple to use and full of space.
Main reason I bought the Seagate is because how it can be used between a mac and a PC.

The best things about this HD are the small physical size and the large storage capacity. I am a little nervous because the other similar Seagate, a 640 gb HD, had to be plugged in and out several times before it would be recognized. I will have to see if the same thing happens with this drive.
