when i realized that I had left my 10x42 Monarch's in Norwary while moosehunting, I was really upset. Then I figured, why not get another pair for here, and leave my hunting binocs in Norway for next season. You can certainly spend alot more on Swaros,etc, but in terms of real value, these really deliver a very crisp image, even in low light, they are durable, an all around great buy for hunting, birding, virtually any use. With the manufacturer's instant rebate and the great service from B&H, it was a fabulous experience.

This is an excellent binocular for the money. I specifically purchased the Monarch ATB for hunting. Excellent low light clarity. It allows you to see images clearly than with the naked eye during low light conditions.
The lense covers do not secure and protect the lenses very well.

I use binoculars for bird and wildlife observation and for property surveilance.

The Monarch gives a sharp clear image even under relatively low light conditions with good color and seems to be rugged enough for general use.

The problem I personally had was using 10x binoculars freehand. I intend to try 8X instead.

I would recommend these to anyone with a younger, steady hand.

I'm a birder and hunter who has used many different top-tier manufacturers' binoculars over the years. For me, the Nikon's are top-notch glass. Very clear and bright. My wife has a pair of well-known brand of $1300 binoc's that work well for her, but I honestly cannot tell the difference between the two brands (won't tell her that, tho).

I definitely would buy these again. In fact, these are an "upgrade" second pair from my older Nikon 8x42 ATB's. The 10x42 are kept in the SUV for trips and the 8x42 are in the house for use around the place. The objective lens cover style is a welcomed improvement in the new set. They're perfect to use with my eyeglasses.

Nikon's customer service left a great deal to be desired when I contacted them about the poor style of and replacements for their older lens covers that kept falling off and were lost soon after purchase. Narry a word in reply.

I have an older binocular, 10X50 (different brand) that I have had for years. While it is quite good, I really like this new Nikon binocular. The edges are sharp and clear (as well as the rest of the lens). I also like the light weight, and the straight barrel makes it smaller size too. Much handier to carry around than my old one. The case is OK (soft). The lens caps on one end are attached, and the other end can be attached to the strap.

This is my second pair of Monarch binos from Nikon. The other pair is 8 x 42. This pair has better magnification so seeing bird detail while on the trail is the primary reason I ordered these binos. I find that the 8 x 42 is great for spotting the bird, and then the 10 x 42 bring the bird in closer and really illuminates the detail. I've looked through other brands of birding binoculars, but none compare in price and usefulness with the Monarchs. These binoculars really let in the light. Even at night, these guys allow me to view birds in the trees, so they're great for owl spotting, too. I can't say enough good stuff about the Nikon Monarch 10 x 42. I've seen some complaints about too much focus adjusting, but I've had no problem. The eye relief is great.

Bought these binoculars for use on safari, and they were perfect for the job -- light weight, bright, and a good combination of magnification and field of view. I was a little worried about my ability to hold them steady enough to avoid excessive jitter, but that wasn't a problem at all -- maybe not quite as steady as my wife's IS Canon, but still very steady. Although not a birder, I had no problem using these to find and watch African birds. I'd guess that the 10x42s are the ideal combination for both wildlife and birds. The eye relief was perfect both with and without glasses. The eye cup covers are useful only for storage, as they fell off all the time. I connected them to the strap, so they weren't lost, but they were pretty useless. The front lens covers were solid and stayed on.

These binocs are the perfect combination of power, clarity and size. Bright and not too shaky, I use these on walks at the shore and just looking at happenings on the street from my apartment window on the 7th floor. Great bang for the buck!

I use these binoculars for bird watching in Australia.
Things I like about them: the focus is fabulous; the wide strap is very comfortable around the neck and they are easy to hold.
I find for a female they are nice and light.
I particularly like the quick centre focus dial aspect.
Not great: the lense caps which push into the underneath can come out easily. Best to remove them so they don't get lost. I don't need to wear my glasses when using them.
I highly recommend them as a great pair of binoculars.
