The Impact PowerSync16 DC Receiver (100-240VAC) is one-half of the PowerSync 16 radio slave system for triggering flash and camera units up to 590' (180 m) away indoors, or 200' (60 m) outdoors using the PowerSync16 Transmitter (available separately).
PowerSync16 has 16 digitally coded channels available so you can even work at events with other photographers without flash or radio interference. You can trigger as many flashes or cameras as you like from a single one transmitter, as long as they're all on the same frequency and have this PowerSync16 DC receiver or the optional AC receiver. Flash sync speeds of up to 1/250 second are possible with PowerSync16. Combine this receiver with a camera release cable to match your particular camera model and you can use the PowerSync16 system as a wireless camera remote control.
This receiver operates on 2x AA batteries. The PowerSync system is not designed to perform in TTL mode with flash units - the flash must be set to Manual Mode.

I've used the PowerSync 16s for website product and model photography and found them to be very reliable, well built and compact. They don't get in the way at all. A great feature is the on-off switches coupled with the ability to replace their batteries if they go dead. I can also use these slaves as a remote shutter release which is a bonus for the macro shooting I do. It would be nice if they came with a storage case but for the money I am very pleased with these units so far.

I really like the small size.

Works fine, triggers flash every time. Be sure to order version that is right for you because there's two - AC for studio lights and DC for speedlites.

I'd give this a 5 out of 5 but the receiver is so long it won't let me attach it to my holder for my softbox. Well, it will but then the flash is too far from the opening to the softbox. Still trying to figure out what cord I'll need to have this still work. Or buy some other holder for the flash/softbox..... Otherwise no problems.

Comments about Impact PowerSync16 DC Receiver:
I got one of these so I wouldn't have to keep tripping over sync cords and I couldn't be happier. Unit came with all the cords you could possibly want or need, and it performs very well. I have dropped this thing, left in on after putting it away, and attached it to hot power packs without incident. It sips batteries, and the response time is quick and reliable. It performs as well as a higher priced unit.

Comments about Impact PowerSync16 DC Receiver:
Best bang for the buck. It does what its suppose to do. Great construction. What I like about it the most is that it has a built-in hotshoe for your flash. Great range when paired with the matching transmitter. I was about to fork over big money for Pocket Wizards but after using these, why pay twice as much when these do the same thing? Sure, it doesn't have wireless ettl but who really needs that anyways???
I would buy these again for sure!

I tested out the Pocket Wizard before buying the PowerSync16 DC Receiver by Impact, which I liked.
The PowerSync16 DC Receiver works just as well, if not better than the Wizard. For half the price you can't beat the IMPACT. I have used it several times, and it never miss fires. If your going shot flash off camera, and you should be, buy it. You'll love it!

Comments about Impact PowerSync16 DC Receiver:
I just used these in a wedding for the first time, they worked well and have good range for most applications. My set up was a Metz 58AF-2 on a Canon 5d with the transmitter connected via the provided pc cable (made a custom bracket to hold the transmitter that attached to the tripod mount on the bottom of the camera). I had a 580EX-II mounted on a light stand hooked up directly to the hot shoe on the receiver to bring up the ambient light in the room. The units were working well for a while, but then stopeed firing. I recycled the power on the transmitter/receiver and strobe and they started popping again, not sure what happened and it didn't happen again.
Overall I was happy with these units, they're small and light and offer multiple connfigurations and you can still use the flash as a master to trigger other flashes when mounted directly to the receiver hot shoe (something you cant do with a pocket wizzard).
I would have given them five stars if not for the one issue when they didn't fire.

Comments about Impact PowerSync16 DC Receiver:
This is definitely a well made and thought out radio slave. The plastic is of good quality with metal screw mounting if needed. So far the two units have worked faultlessly and have a good range so I would recommend them. The hot shoe mounted transmitter is of the same good quality and the only thing that could be better is that it mounts upright and so sticks up and can get a little in the way, other than that, it's a great product that has worked out of the box with no misfires.

Comments about Impact PowerSync16 DC Receiver:
I shoot portrait and event photography, use, primarily, hot shoe flashes and shoot mostly in manual mode. This receiver delivers in so many ways. You got a hot shoe flash? You bought the Impact transmitter and receiver? Done! No cords required! Start shooting! Sit the flash on the ruggedly built receiver and you are ready to go. So convenient is the metal screw for setting the unit on a light stand with a modifier. The on/off saves battery life. Furthermore, I have the ability to turn this item into a remote trigger for my camera if I choose to; perfect for kid portraits. One thing to look out for is the antenna: you can easily bend it with your finger or if you keep it attached to the camera, in your bag. I've noticed that sometimes, when you turn on the trigger and receivers, you have to pop the test button on the flash BEFORE you test fire the trigger to see if the receiver works. The good news is, it does!

Comments about Impact PowerSync16 DC Receiver:
They work great, if you use them right.
The included accessories are very handy to have, the hotshoe, PC, and 1/8th sync port are great.
One unexpectedly useful feature is the ability to mount to the hot shoe of the camera, and use the transmitter to fire the camera.
However, a speedlight on the hot shoe needs to be VERY firmly attached to work well.
