A memory card is not included with the camera.
Get a high-capacity memory card so you don't get caught without memory.
The camera has many automatic settings, and scene modes for the beginning photographer, but it also has manual settings for the image maker who wants total control. All of your composing and playback takes place on the bright 3" LCD display, and images can be stored on SD, SDHC or SXCD memory cards. For image editing, Adobe Photoshop Elements 8 is included.
When shooting HD video, you can use the 12x zoom lens and all the other camera features, including the GPS feature. This innovative feature records the geographical coordinates of the location and the local time of every picture shot and stores the information in the EXIF data of the image files. The GPS also provides a variety of fascinating options and benefits. When traveling, the camera displays all the sights in the immediate neighborhood. The V-LUX 20 has access to a total of 500,000 such points of interest in 73 countries. The GPS feature is also useful when archiving pictures. The GPS does not function in China, its neighboring regions and any place where satellite signal reception is unavailable.

After owning the MUCH larger Leica V-lux 1, I was very curious when Leica announced the V-Lux 20. I'd been looking for a pocket camera that would compliment my bigger Leica and after a weekend around New York City I have to say I couldn't be more pleased. The more pics I take, the better I get. The key here is you CANNOT rely on the automatic mode. This camera works best for someone willing to take the time to learn the cameras manual controls while using the numerous "scene" modes for "easy" shooting. I'm also learning how to get very nice indoor shots as well. You'll also find the zoom smooth and easy to work with. I haven't tried the Panasonic Lumix version so I don't know what Leica's improved on this model but either way it's the best compact I've yet encountered when it comes to sharp, colorful, warm pictures you're proud to share with others. The only thing keeping me from giving it 5 stars is the lack of a viewfinder but it's too small a camera for one anyway, and the screen is bright enough to cause little problems. I'm also very happy to find it available right here at my favorite electronics store, B&H!

Comments about Leica V-LUX 20 Digital Camera:
I have professional Nikons (D3X and others ) and several Canons but this one is just right to have in pocket or purse. Light, excellent zoom, fast lens... all around a good companion for times when you travel light and want a bit more quality in case you need to take a picture, with more options than your Iphone. It has made me look into Pro Leicas, in addition to my all time favorite: Hasselblad.
GPS is a good for those using the camera on their travels. Typically I carry larger cameras when I travel, but its a valuable tool.
Only item I really miss in the bright South Florida sun is for this camera to also include a viewfinder in the design.

Comments about Leica V-LUX 20 Digital Camera:
I bought the V-Lux 20 because I did not want to lug any of my DSLRs on an extended vacation trip in luggage-restricted circumstances. The little camera performed magnificently. The flash is a bit feeble, and I miss an optical viewfinder in bright light situations, but the long (12X) optical zoom is a treasure which makes up for these deficiencies. The video is great. Since I turn the GPS function on only occasionally, I haven't had the battery life problem other reviewers have cited. I do carry an extra battery because I am often away from electrical power, but if you buy one, get the Panasonic battery - it's identical (except for the label) and is much cheaper. I confess that I knowingly paid more for the Leica version of the camera (I love that little red circle) but the Panasonic version is probably just as good and a lot less expensive. One warning: I have two Leica-branded Panasonic-built cameras (a C-Lux 1 and a V-Lux 1) which are non-operational, presumably because of electronic failures, so I have reservations about long-term reliability of these Panasonic-built camaras.

Comments about Leica V-LUX 20 Digital Camera:
I bought this camera mostly for the lens. It was the only camera with a quality
zoom range up to 300mm. It does deliver sharp images throughout the entire
range if you can hold it still. The IS is helpful but doesn't work as good as a in lens type on a SLR. I try to shoot at 1/250 second or faster but not always possible. Put this camera on a tripod and you don't need a SLR. The build quality is great and what you would expect from Leica. The V LUX 20 is pretty small and fits into almost any pocket, great for traveling on my motorcycle. Battery is Ok but I always carry a spare. I can't comment on the movie part of the camera, I am not into movies. Could use a little faster lens but I have yet to find a point & shoot that does everything.Fits nice in Tamrac 5292 TA T92 Camera bag. Enough room for two spare batteries and two spare memory cards and has buckle closure.

Portable enough to take anywhere and not be in the way. Gives me a great range of focal length.

Comments about Leica V-LUX 20 Digital Camera:
Good quality images. A little slippery to handle; recommend always using hand strap. Battery life disappointing; suggest buying backup battery. Good results with Scenic modes, especially church interiors with "Candlelight." Wonderful tight food shots with "Food," better than Auto. In Manual, with "Force Flash On," (to shoot a face in shadows), often the daylight background beyond the object resulted in being overexposed. Will keep looking for solution.

Comments about Leica V-LUX 20 Digital Camera:
I love the wide angle lens on this camera, and it performs well in low light. In situations where I'd normally take my D-SLR but don't want the bulk, it is an awesome stand-in with enough manual controls to still take fun, atypical shots for a point and shoot. This is my first Leica, and though I hesitated about purchasing this camera because of its price, it is so awesome I would buy it again.

Comments about Leica V-LUX 20 Digital Camera:
I've purchased several Leica point-and-shoot digital cameras in the past and this one is by far the best one yet. Like all of the previous Leicas, the color quality is superb; very natural and sharp. And doesn't require any color correction in PS. I use the camera primarily for group mountain biking rides I do four times a week. I keep it in a pouch attached to my hydration pack shoulder strap. Needless to say it takes a beating but continues to perform flawlessly.
