The iPad Camera Connection Kit for All iPads from Apple imports digital photos from your digital camera, iPhone, or SD card directly onto your iPad. The kit includes one Camera Connector and one SD Card Reader. The Camera Connector docks to your iPad and has a USB interface that connects to your digital camera or iPhone using a USB cable (not included). The SD Card Reader simply docks to the iPad; when you insert an SD card you're ready to transfer your photos.
After connection of either device the iPad will instantly open up the Photos app. You'll be able to choose which pictures to import and you'll be able to organize your photos in albums of your choosing. The iPad and the Camera Connection Kit support standard photo formats, including JPEG and RAW. Additionally, when you sync your iPad to your Mac or PC the photos stored on your iPad will be added to your computer's photo library.

It's hard to believe all of the new ways that have arisen to spend money on things I've lived without for all these years since I bought my iPad2. Before the iPad I was happy to spend my money on things like food and clothing and maybe an infrequent visit to a movie theater. Now, I am unable to do most of those things since my funds go to the purchase of apps and iPad accessories. It's a sad state of affairs, but I do get to play with the thing and attach gizmos that make it do stuff that it didn't do before the gizmos got attached. Which all brings me to the camera connection kit by Apple. Before I purchased the camera connection kit I had to download my photos to my computer through another Apple product, iPhoto, and then put whatever photos I had downloaded that I wanted to see on my iPad into a folder in iPhoto and then sync it with my iPad. Whew! What a time waster huh? Now its a direct download from the camera or SD card into the iPad. I don't know how I ever lived without the thing (but this is what I also said about Angry Birds and Super Sudoku). So, all in all, I'm happy with the purchase, it works the way its supposed to work, and I will only have to miss a couple of meals this week or perhaps postpone the purchase of that extra pair of socks I was considering for the winter to pay for it.

I bought this kit to allow me to save my photos when Im travelling without a notebook. As I have a 64GB iPad, which I mainly use for documents and internet access, it has plenty of space for that. The kit worked perfectly and it very easy to use. I used it to connecting SD cards from a compact or to save RAW files directly from my DSLR (it uses compact flash).

Use the USB device to download images direct from my D700 camera - RAW or jpg. Works as it should, have had no issues. Lots of great apps out there for photo editing and cataloging. With the USB devise I can simply download photos, do a quick edit on the iPad and send then by email. No laptops needed. Great for travel snaps to friends.

I read various reviews on MAC sites about using the camera adaptor to connect a regular USB Keyboard. All the reviews said that if you get an error message, you click ignore or cancel and the wired keyboard gets connected to the ipad - in my case ipad 2. Yes, it does work. I connected my old keyboard (an old DELL keyboard) to the ipad through the USB port! I like devices that work in many different functions and this is one of them.
Finally, B&H is the best.

Comments about Apple iPad Camera Connection Kit:
I use the product to transfer images over while im in the field and want to show clients what has been shot.
I only get to use half the product, as one can only fit the smaller cards used in compact camera's and not the large SD Cards used in professional/semi professional SLR's. So one has to use the connection that allows USD to Camera connection, thus having to carry around cable too.
Woukd be great if I could whip out my SD card and transfer direct to mu iPad.

Simple to use as any other Apple device. Plug & Play. Too bad it does not accept all kinds of memory cards, like the Sony ones. Had to use the USB connector that comes with the kit.
