With a transfer rate that's 50% faster than the previous generation of SxS-1 cards, the 64GB SxS-1 Memory Card is an affordable, Flash-based media option designed for Sony's XDCAM EX line of camcorders, now including the PMW-500. Offering the same performance and reliability as more expensive SxS Pro cards, the SxS-1 has about one-tenth the lifespan (about 5 years with heavy use). These entry-level cards are ultra fast, durable, and can record up to 3 hours of HD video. The higher transfer speed translates to improved XDCAM workflow and faster ingest times, making the G1A an ideal media solution, from shoot to edit.
Note! For compatibility with original EX1/EX3 cameras, a firmware update is required. See Sony's Compatibility Chart for more info.

Great SxS Card, high Capacity, reliable. It Give us the space we need to film for 2,5 Hours with out having to worry to carry with us extra cards because we run out of space while filming. Sony time limit usage would never be a problem, do the math and you'll see you need so many years before reach that time limit. Bottom line, instead of getting 2x32GB SxS for us was better having one of this unit.

My complaint isn't with the functionality of the card. It works fine.My only concern is that I paid [$] for a product that has a limited life span. You don't see Panasonic putting a limited life span on their P2 cards! Sony is just greedy and wants you to have to buy their products time and again.I just hope I get my money's worth before it decides to die on me.Also, it would be nice to know when it plans to fail. I don't like the idea of going to shoot a film and not knowing when my media plans to fail on me. I would buy the 32g Pro cards but they are only 32g and I need the longer recording times of the 64g-1 because of the kind of work I do.

Comments about Sony SxS-1 G1A 64GB Memory Card:
The great thing about paying the extra $$$ for this over the aftermarket cards with SD card inserts is I never have to question whether it will work, format properly and run at any fps.
Also, download time is much improved.

Does what it says. Works fine with my MacBook pro and final cut pro. A tad pricy, but does the job and saves your camera and saves space on your desk.

This is a great card. I have two of these cards and the great thing about them is that my Macbook pro recognizes them. They hold up too 400 hours of video on my Sont f3 in Hd mode. Finally a product that works in slot that is built into a macbook. Bye Bye P2 caRDS

Expensive item but increased my recording capacity to 200mins approx. Have only just purchsed this product and recorded a 1.5 hour program, without a hitch Would like to purchase more, maybe when the price is reasonable.

Comments about Sony SxS-1 G1A 64GB Memory Card:
This SxS-1 card is as great and reliable as the SxS-PRO model. I wasn't sure in the beginning. Using the SxS-PRO at least for 2 years, they appear to be absolutely reliable (rain, cold, hot, etc). The 'little bigger' SxS-1 model seems to be the same. Much more affordable. The extra reading speed (1200 against 800 Mb/sec) of this G1A model shows up while inserted in the MacBookPro for download. The software shows 10x speed instead of 6x before... Really cool. And what about the write/read limit in time ? Sony mentioned 5 years of service by using it at 1 time per day... Well, this give me some years before complaining !
