The Shutter boss works exactly how it claims, however due to the dark the color of it (black) it's hard to find in the dark since the plug comes out very very easily. I have spent a lot of time searching in tall grass for this little guy only to find myself returning the next day in light to find it. I think a rubber band to hold it to the other equipment is instore while you move your tripod around. AND I am going to put some bright tape on it just so that it is easy to find in the dark.

Comments about Vello ShutterBoss Timer Remote for Canon with 3-Pin Connection:
I've used this for time lapse for some video projects. Once you make it through the buttons a few times you'll realize that the menu system is actually very simple. The device has always worked for me and I've never had any issues with it. I only wish it had an on/off switch. I have to tape the batteries outside the unit to travel with it.

This device is made pretty poorly. It will not power off unless you remove the batteries which is really stupid. The plug does not stay plugged into the camera. Overall this is a pretty bad product.

Comments about Vello ShutterBoss Timer Remote for Canon with 3-Pin Connection:
I bought the Vello ShutterBoss for use with my Canon 5D Mark III and have put it to the test on several long timelapse sequences in its first week in my camera bag. It works flawlessly, exactly as I had hoped, though, for just over [$] bucks, even better than I had expected. In fact, this little guy is exceptionally well made and does everything you need for long exposures, self-timing, timelapse, and multiple exposures. You'll love this thing.

Comments about Vello ShutterBoss Timer Remote for Canon with 3-Pin Connection:
I was looking for a timer to use in prolonged exposition shots. The ones to capture star trails, and the landscapes using only the moon light. All functions in the backlit display are intuitive and the green backlight is easy on the eyes. It was easy to understand the functions of the remote. The timer that allow to shot time lapse sequences is a petty handy function. Overall it does what it is supposed to do, and do it well.An on/off switch certainly would make a difference as I found many times that the time was activated inside my bag when it was not in use. Mostly because I pack it with other accessories and the start/stop button is accidentally pressed.

I run a non-profit music school for children and decided to buy this to capture a day in the life of our program with timelapse photography. I set this up with my 5D Mk I and left it for 4 hours a day, for 5 days. After taking it out of the box, and inserting the included AA's, it took about 5 minutes to figure out!
Doing 1 photo every 4 seconds takes a tremendous amount of battery power and you'll need to have a large memory card and will probably need to set it to take small jpegs, which are still better resolution than any video anyways.
I have zero complaints about this product - it's really great!

It's good… just one thing though; the lock switch is too easy to slip on and sometimes I found myself wondering why it wasn't working only to discover it slipped "slightly" into the lock position.

This item does exactly what I bought it for, and at an incredible price! Will use it lots outdoors next winter, so no word yet on how it'll behave in the cold. Otherwise happy.

I have used this product a few times and so far I like it. It does what it was meant to do. The only thing I am not a fan of is no Off switch. So for that reason 4 stars.

Comments about Vello ShutterBoss Timer Remote for Canon with 3-Pin Connection:
I purchased the Vello ShutterBoss to do time lapse photography in combination with my Canon 7d DSLR camera.
I was first attracted to the product by the price, as it is quite a bit more affordable than the Canon time lapse trigger.
When I got the product I was happy to find that it inlcuded batteries, which meant that I could start using it right away.
As advertised, it worked great with my Canon 7d; it was just plug and play. The instructions were fairly poorly written, but the device is easy to navigate through, so I got it working pretty quickly.
The ShutterBoss has proven to be a very reliable device, and has definetly proven to be the boss of my shutter.

Comments about Vello ShutterBoss Timer Remote for Canon with 3-Pin Connection:
The SutterBoss does everything it claims. It's well-built with a fairly intuitive interface. Comes with 2 generic brand AAA batteries. Manual is good. My only recommendation is you will need an AC power source and a tripod (or similar mount) for your camera.

have only used it a couple of times first time when package arrived at my home and going over it with the manual and then on recent camping trip shooting or attempting to shoot the stars had a bit of a problem trying to remember how to set it up but once I got the hang of it worked wounderful.

Comments about Vello ShutterBoss Timer Remote for Canon with 3-Pin Connection:
You can't ask for anything better in this price point. There are some things where you want to spend your money for Canon branded products like glass, but for accessories like this, there's no comparison here.
This serves all my purposes for time lapse shooting at less than half the cost of the Canon brand. Built very well with the only one exception that everyone else is commenting on, no on or off switch. But that shouldn't be an issue if you are an experienced gadget user and remove your batteries from your device after use. Still though, the on and off switch would prove useful and would have given this a 5 star rating. Instead, it's a 4 with high remarks.
