It's great to hear whats going into you DSLR. With DSLR video becoming more popular, and it's audio being subpar, external audio sources are the only option. This cable allows you to monitor the sound coming out of an audio device and that is going into your video device. Simple right? Well it's extreemly important! Unless you are willing to wait till a perfect take could be ruined by bad audio, you need this. If you have the ability to monitor said audio source before and while recording, you don't have to worry. Otherwise, this will eliminate the headache of hoping you don't have to dub fresh dialog. Especially if you are conducting on the spot interviews, or live events where that is not an option.

I bought this to use with my Canon 7D and Zoom H4n when I shoot handheld with a shoulder mount and shotgun mic on-camera.
Only problem is: when I mount my Zoom on my shoulder mount, the cable is too short to reach the mic input on my 7D-- by about six inches. I can't seem to find anywhere to mount the H4n to make this work. I would like to see a sketch of how they intended this to be used...

These cables are very robust, well identified. It does the job perfectly and can take a lot of abuse . These are pulled in and out of my bag many time and no connection problems what so ever. I recommend this product to anyone requiring this type of connections.

Bought this item with my Tascam DR-07 digital recorder to use with my XLR condenser mic. Plugged in the recorder and got an annoying ground hum. Checked with other equipment and got the same results. Do not know if this was a bad cable or if this brand doesn't jive with Tascam. Buyer beware!

I got this is the DSLR Kit for the Zoom HN4. I use it with my Canon 5D Mark II. As you know internal microphones on DSLRs do not have the best audio. Also you cannot monitor audio from this camera with out a cable like this. The line has to be attenuated also. THis cable allows the zoom to be use as the external Microphone which has done a fantastic job. I mainly use it for monitoring because I have the Zoom HN4 recording. I am a professional Videographer/Photographer/Musician

I was happy to find this cable... it gives me the ability to monitor audio while recording direct into my camera on set. I am a fan of backups and this gives me reassurance that i have captured my sound in a second location. if you are happy with the quality from camera it also prevents having to sync sound in post which is a huge time saver!

This cable is a great little piece of kit. It's great to be able to monitor audio AND record at the same time with one jack. My only complaint is that the mini jack into the camera isn't as snug as I'd like it to be, otherwise, great cable.
