Panasonic's Leica DG Summilux 25mm f/1.4 ASPH Micro 4/3 Lens is designed for use with Lumix G Micro 4/3 cameras. It provides an angle of view similar to a 50mm lens on a 35mm or full-frame digital camera, and the wide f/1.4 maximum aperture can deliver beautiful, bright photos and videos with softly out-of-focus backgrounds. Built to Leica's usual high standards, this lens delivers excellent image quality with minimal distortion or chromatic aberrations, with a sturdy metal mount.
Nano Surface Coating minimizes reflection over the entire visual light range, resulting in sharp, clear images with very little ghost and flare. The use of the Ultra High Refractive index lens and glass mold aspherical elements helps the lens maintain superb uniformity edge to edge. Seven aperture blades form a circular aperture for very pleasing out-of-focus areas in your images.

Comments about Panasonic Leica DG Summilux 25mm f/1.4 ASPH Micro 4/3 Lens:
I got the Leica DG Summilux 25 mm 2 weeks ago, and have used it last weekend at a wedding. With the low light that's usually encountered at weddings, the lens performed very well, I was really happy with the results! Absolutely recommend the lens!

Comments about Panasonic Leica DG Summilux 25mm f/1.4 ASPH Micro 4/3 Lens:
I've been really happy with the low light performance of this lens. I use it on my Olympus PEN E-PL2 indoors without having to worry about the distraction or flattening effects of a flash.

Comments about Panasonic Leica DG Summilux 25mm f/1.4 ASPH Micro 4/3 Lens:
This is a must-have lens for a seriuos m43 photographic system. Small cameras would be great for candid application but in general they have slow lenses.Snappy images, great DOF control even for a small sensor and great low-light capability. What more does one need?
Always been a FF-sensor guy and bought the Pen EP-3 for my wife. This lens has made me jealous enough that I'll be picking up an OM-D body as soon as it's available and using it often!

This lens is perfect in low light condition and offer to micro four third cameras the ability to challenge reflex cameras. The bokeh is very nice as we can expect from leica. A must have!!!

The other reviews are absolutely true here. This lens is a must have, particularly for any Lumix G owner. 1st shots out of the box on my G3 at dawn and indoors were simply incredible. The more I use it the more spectacular the photos.

Comments about Panasonic Leica DG Summilux 25mm f/1.4 ASPH Micro 4/3 Lens:
For the money, while this lens is not in the league of a real Leica Summilux 50mm f/1.4, it is 80% as good in terms of sharpness, bokeh quality and the way it paints portraits.
I am a Leica M photographer so I am always in a manual mode and this lens is very easy to operate in either manual or automated modes.
Great as a standard, portrait or street photography lens. Fantastic value for money for the micro 4/3 enthusiasts, run and don't walk to buy this lens.

Comments about Panasonic Leica DG Summilux 25mm f/1.4 ASPH Micro 4/3 Lens:
I was looking for a fast lens set, and this lens met the needs. It is sharp at the f1.4. With the lens on my E-P3 the AF is fast and accurate. If you need a lens for low light or shallow depth of field this is an excellent choice. It matches up well with the 12mm f2.0 and 45mm f1.8 Olympus lenses to provide great set of lenses for the micro four thirds cameras.

I will use this product for low light situations without using flash. The lens is super sharp and I like the effect on the background of the photo taken at F 1.4.

A exccellent lens for my Oly E-P3, sharp, fast focus, great bokeh, well made but low light. A real lens for MFT.

Comments about Panasonic Leica DG Summilux 25mm f/1.4 ASPH Micro 4/3 Lens:
I give this lens 5 star because it gives consistently great image quality: extremely sharp from f1.4 with deep colors and contrast. Fast and accurate AF. However, its aperture blades are very loud when the lens is mounted on Olympus Pen bodies and much louder compared to Panny 20. It is inevitable to compare this lens to the popular Panasonic 20mm. They are both normal lenses (20m is a little wider). The differences are:
PL25 is much bigger (about 3x times longer and 2x heavier) and its minimum focusing distance is much worse. PL25 is brighter (f1.4 vs f1.7) which may or may not be helpful in low light (depending on how much DoF you need. The lens has better, smoother bokeh with noticeably shallower DoF. It has faster AF on current m43 bodies (no difference on older E-PL2).
Get this lens instead of Panny 20 if your goal is to maximize image quality from m43 system so you'd be willing to sacrifice compactness. Also if you just want to own one lens, this will be better choice than Panny 20 (again if you're ok with the size) because it will give you noticeably more DoF control, works much better for portraits (perhaps a little more than head and shoulders), especially great for available light/indoor people shots. The lens really shines when photographing little kids where the portraits may mean the entire body. Get this lens if you have a 0-5 y.o. child.

Comments about Panasonic Leica DG Summilux 25mm f/1.4 ASPH Micro 4/3 Lens:
Great lens! Effectively corrects the low-light weakness of the m43 system. This lens is on my (wife's) GH2 98% of the time.
Autofocus is not as fast as I would like, but it it is still plenty fast. Sometimes, it does takes a long time to autofocus during video.
Other than that, I'm glad I saved up and waited for this to be released.
Highly recommended all of you m43 users.

Comments about Panasonic Leica DG Summilux 25mm f/1.4 ASPH Micro 4/3 Lens:
This is one little gem of a lens. Using it to video weddings mounted on my AF100 and really pleased with the results thus far. Sharp wide open is music to my ears on those dark reception dance floors. Never really use auto focus so cant comment on that. Build quality is a solid Panasonic lens but not a extreme high quality like a Leica lens.

I just received this product and think it is great. I might not ever take it off my camera. Its fast the glass is amazing and the images you get are great. You pay for what you get so I don't think you can go wrong with getting this. video I have yet to use it but I'm sure this will help out in low light situations of course.

Comments about Panasonic Leica DG Summilux 25mm f/1.4 ASPH Micro 4/3 Lens:
This is an excellent, low light level, rapid focusing, sharp and well built lens that has a reasonable price tag for a great normal lens. This lens, while compatible with micro 4/4rds, focuses faster on Panasonic cameras than on others.

Comments about Panasonic Leica DG Summilux 25mm f/1.4 ASPH Micro 4/3 Lens:
Just recently received lens. Used it for indoor casual family shots. First time in a while I've been happy with OOF highlights -good capturing one person in a crowd. Nice, soft three dimensional look to the shots. I'm shooting mostly in aperture priority mode with auto focusing fixed on faces (using a G1). Quick, and easy to work with. Good construction, similar to other Lumix lenses - plastic body, metal mount. I immediately switched to a generic rubber lens hood, easier to use and store then the "Leica style" included with the lens. AF is fast, but no image stabilization with this lens.

Expensive, but worth the money. I am using it on a Panasonic G3 and I could not be happier. Sharpness is excellent and the low light capabilities are very good. I will probably use many different camera bodies in the next few years, but this lens is a keeper.

Comments about Panasonic Leica DG Summilux 25mm f/1.4 ASPH Micro 4/3 Lens:
I bought this lens for my Olympus PEN E-P3 to satisfy my requirement for a fast prime. It is well made and performs very, very well in all situations. However, on my E-P3 it chatters loudly in all but very dim light. After looking into this I concluded it is not a defective lens, it is just the way it works. . Aperature closes and opens continuously to adjust to changing light conditions. Why this is a problem for me: I already have a noisy DSLR and part of the appeal of the MFT system is its quiet operation. Still, it is a very nice lens and I would recommend it, but expect some noise.

I just received this lens and haven't used it extensively, but I did some evening photos outside during and after sunset, and some low light interior shots without a flash. It's quite remarkable how fast this lens is. I highly recommend it. The price has also dropped since its release just a short while ago, so now may be a great time to buy!
