I'm a college student whose currently exploring the photography realm. I tend to capture simple forms and I really like a wide tonal range. This paper makes some beautiful prints. The texture is soft - a nice compliment to my style. The one issue I encounter with this paper is that it tends to be rather unforgiving in terms of contrast. one 1/2 step up in contrast makes a huge difference: while one is too gray the next can sometimes be way too black. Overall, though, I'd prefer the satin to the glossy any day. It's also very durable.

I'm not thrilled with this paper. I certainly prefer the Pearl or even glossy surface to the satin.
Don't get me wrong, I love the matte, what I don't like is that the photo looks significantly different wet than dry, and its not something I'm used to.
It almost totally loses its contrast when it dries, and its a little disappointing.
It also has a certain sheen that gives an image a sort of haze...So viewing angle is very limited.
It performs well, fast, develops nicely, etc. But, loses its blacks.

Comments about Ilford Multigrade IV RC Deluxe MGD.25M Black & White Variable Contrast Paper (8 x 10", Satin, 100 Sheets):
I am a college student at the University of North Dakota taking up a BFA Visual Arts with an emphasis in photography. This paper by far is one of my favorites right up there with the pearl finish. Si have ordered this from other companies and have recieved it with the box damaged. Not from here though. I also recieved it sooner than what was expected which was a huge plus being a busy college student with deadlines. I would definitely tell others to try this that they won't be disapointed!

Comments about Ilford Multigrade IV RC Deluxe MGD.25M Black & White Variable Contrast Paper (8 x 10", Satin, 100 Sheets):
For its price, this is extremely good quality photo paper. I'm currently in a black and white specialty course at college and this paper has beaten several other (more expensive) papers used by classmates in both quality and durability. It's hard to scratch or rip and has a nice finish that ensures light won't glare off of your enlargements or contact sheets. I greatly prefer it to the gloss-finish paper several others have, as this more matte look provides far greater detail even in bright light. Also, a bonus, finger prints rarely show! Overall 5/5 stars, I will buy again.

I think Satin is better than glossy paper. I got a little confused when looking for matte ilford paper, but somebody told me it's called satin. I absolutely love it and I recommend it also =)

After borrowing some matte paper from a class-mate, I was impressed by the quality of the print in contrast to the glossy paper, so I decided to go for matte in my next purchase. The satin is nice, but my professor notes that detail in the shadows is better when using glossy.

This paper gets the job done. It is good to use for beginners. If you are more advanced and want better quality, I would go with fiber based paper though.

I use this product with Kodak Tri-X 400 film. I had used this same paper in Pearl rather than Satin before but can hardly tell a difference in the switch. Both are very smooth finishes and are great if you prefer a glare-free image!

I like that its not 100% glossy but it has a nice tone to it. i love that it is easy to use. at first i did not want to try it but after reading reviews and trying it out for myself, i loved it. it kind of looks like mat paper, but still kind of has a glossyness to it.

Comments about Ilford Multigrade IV RC Deluxe MGD.25M Black & White Variable Contrast Paper (8 x 10", Satin, 100 Sheets):
Upon picking out photo paper for the first time, I was totally in the dark on the differences of all the surfaces. I went out on a limb and tried the satin. It is not too glossy and not too matte. It is a perfect balance of the two. The surface is not grainy, but very smooth. I would buy it again in a heartbeat.

I use this product to make quick and easy prints. RC paper is great for testing out ideas, and this package provides just enough paper necessary for a big project. Nothing beats fiber, but I still love the satin finish. It's almost completely matte-looking.
