Perfect for flashes

I ordered these as a replacement for the metal cold shoes I have, the metal ones were causing shorts with my flashes and would not fire. These fit perfect on a light stand and seems to be decent quality.

Does the job

Nice inexpensive cold shoe to use if your camera didn't come with one. My only complaint is the recess for the attaching screw is a bit too shallow. I'm using it with an RRS 4 plate to make a video rig for my Sony RX100 and needed to put a shim between the plate and the cold shoe mount to the screw would fully seat. Otherwise, works as wanted.

Does this work with the Canon 600 ex rt flash?
Asked by: Anonymous
Yes. And its a tight fit too. It has brass metal threads at the base so it wont strip as easy.

question

The Canon flashes quick release system (like the Canon 600EX-RT) has a PIN that drops into a hole that helps secure it. Does this shoe have the hole to secure the flash?
Asked by: Patrick
I don't have this particular model but I do have the Vello HSA-PSN ADAPTER FOR a Nikon and it does have the hole you are referring to.

Does this work with a Nikon SB-800 speed light without damage to the pins? I can't tell if the tapered ramp area is wide enough to accommodate the pins on the bottom of the speed light.
Asked by: burke
Sorry, I don't use Nikon's so I can't even begin to guess. I was using it to hold a cold show item so....

question

is this or the Joby Universal Flash Shoe thinner?
Asked by: Anonymous
The Joby measures 1.9 x 1.2 x 0.5 (30 x 29 x 11 mm) - we don't have specs for the Vello but the Joby looks to be a little shallower. The flash may sit a few millimeters lower.
