The Olympus OM-D E-M5 Micro Four Thirds Digital Camera with 12-50mm Lens, as the name states, provides you with an exceptional mirrorless camera and a 12-50mm Olympus lens. This bundle ensures that you're set up and ready to shoot from day one.
The OM-D E-M5 sports the popular mirrorless technology that allows for a light and compact body. More than that, however, the OM-D E-M5 is an outstanding camera that provides you with tools like an electronic eye-level viewfinder, a 120fps refresh rate, a tilting 3.0" OLED touchscreen monitor, 16Mp of resolution, and - of course - an ever-expanding array of compatible lens options. All these factors boil down to a camera that's easier to transport than the average DSLR, yet puts multiple lens choices, and numerous other high-end features and functions, at your disposal.
Taking the features of the OM-D EM-5 one at a time, let's begin with the camera's high image quality. Making such stunning 16Mp stills and 1920 x 1080 HD video possible would be the 16Mp Live MOS image sensor and the TruePic IV image processor. The heart of the camera, these two work together with an array of M.ZUIKO DIGITAL lenses for impressive images and movies.
Other features worth mentioning here include Olympus' AF system, which enables fast, accurate images in a variety of situations. Additionally, 9.2 fps high-speed sequential shooting goes a step further to ensure that fast moving subjects are easily captured. The 5-axis image stabilization system also comes into play here, compensating for vertical, horizontal, and rotational camera shake, which conventional 2-axis systems of the past haven't been able to tame. This stabilization is built-in the camera body, and ensures effective stabilization with all lenses.
The high-res, 1.44 million dot LCD has 100% field-of-view coverage and 100% maximum magnification. The EVF also allows for enlarging the focus point for seeing the effect of many different features right in the viewfinder. In addition to this impressive EVF, the camera also has a 3.0" tilting OLED touchscreen monitor, making it the first Olympus camera to have such capabilities. The touchscreen monitor allows for fast menu navigation, and brilliant composition and review of scenes.
The OM-D EM-5 is also a tough camera, featuring a dust-proof and splash-proof design. As Olympus states, "multiple ring-shaped seals protect the camera from sand, dust, rain, and water spray". That means there's no need to fear the elements and as a result, miss the shot. What's more the OM-D extends this feature to the bundled flash unit, the optional grip, the power battery holder, and the optional M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 12-50mm f/3.5-6.3 EZ lens.
A "Key Line" Art Filter joins ten other available filters on the Olympus E-M5 and enhances the edge lines of the image to make it look more like an illustration. "Cross Process II" and "Dramatic Tone II" Art Filters provide variations on the popular existing filters, and the two new Echo effects for movies leaves a momentary residual image of a subject's movements when activated during movie recording. Users who like to perform their movie post-editing on a PC will particularly appreciate the Full HD 1080i movie recording function, which adopts the MOV format (MPEG-4 AVC/H.264)

Comments about Olympus OM-D E-M5 Micro Four Thirds Digital Camera with 12-50mm Lens (Black Body, Black Lens):
Got this camera to replace my Oly E-30 which I really liked. Great ergonomics, felt it was a photographers camera. But after a recent backpacking trip and several international trips (with a few more coming up) wanted something lighter and smaller. Did get an EPM-1 (which I'll probably keep) but really missed a viewfinder and the accessibility of controls for changing camera settings easily. So, decided to go with the EM-5 and am really happy with it. It's autofocus is quick and accurate, great resolution, the IBIS seems to work great (to the point I think I'll leave it on by default), and it's high ISO performance is really good. In addition to keeping the IBIS on will probably keep the auto iso on and set to 1600 max. Up to now I always kept a cameras ISO on the lowest setting unless I was really in a pinch.12-50 lens is nice (a bit on the slow side but nice). Also have the 45 mm 1.8 (great lens), 40-150 and 70-300 regular 4/3 with adapter. Thinking of adding the panny 20mm pancake and will then be set for the long haul I think. At least until the next neat gadget comes out...RickReally happy with it

Not only do I love and appreciate the wonderful new technology that does everything advertised and more; I pre-ordered mine and all the guys are jealous.
Seriously, I am a passionate amateur photog and have been waiting for this camera for years. I do street/candid photography and need something light, small, inconspicuous and quick that produces files that can be printed large without requiring a tripod. There are small inconveniences to any tool but this one definitely does what I need it to do. Thanks Olympus!

Comments about Olympus OM-D E-M5 Micro Four Thirds Digital Camera with 12-50mm Lens (Black Body, Black Lens):
In my view micro four thirds (mft) cameras are best for working with people unobtrusively, rather like rangefinders in their day - small, quiet, non-threatening. Yet they have many advantages naturally. The E-M5 is my fifth mft camera and about my 27th camera overall. I got it, despite some reservations, with the 12-50mm lens. I have not been disappointed. The shutter sound is pleasing and quiet, it focuses well whether manually or automatically (and is either to manually focus while in AF), it has little noise uo to at least 1,600, and its image quality overall seems to me a bit better than that of my Panasonic GH2 (though they're not materially different, I think).
The low hum it makes is not worth bothering about.
The ergonomics are - despite some web complaints - really good once you get used to it. Everything is in easy reach with little chance of mistakes.
As for the lens, it isn't as good at the edges as better lenses such as the 14-54mm series II, 7-14mm ED, 20mm f/1.7 or 45mm f/1.8 or even 14mm f/2.5 (the ones I've compared it too). But for most purposes the differences are not material. And it's a lot smaller than the 14-54 and focuses faster. So I think it's worth it in the bundle.
The other good use of these cameras, especially this weather sealed one, is landscapes in areas where it's tough to lug heavy gear.
