The Samsung Series 7 ATIV Smart PC Pro 700T 11.6" Tablet Computer answers the new question - when is a tablet more than a tablet?
When it produces a more notebook-like experience, that's when. The ATIV Smart PC Pro looks like a tablet, at only 0.5" thick, and feels like a tablet, weighing less than two pounds, but it features very un-tablet like specs. Start with the Intel Core i5-3317U processor, which is far more powerful than standard ARM processors. Next you'll experience 4GB of DDR3 1600 MHz RAM, a 128GB solid state drive, and Intel HD Graphics 4000 graphics processing. Very un-tablet like, indeed.
The screen is a Full HD backlit LED 11.6" capacitive/resistive touchscreen (it accepts finger input and stylus input), with a 1920 x 1080 native resolution. It also incorporates Samsung's proprietary SuperBright+ technology for a commendable 400 nits brightness and super sharp viewing.
The ATIV also includes a keyboard dock which turns it into a full-fledged notebook. With a Core i5 processor, it makes a lean mean computer with the kind of specs you expect from a notebook.
The ATIV does circle back into tablet territory with tablet standards like front and rear-facing cameras, a USB port and HDMI connectivity. But even those stats are boosted by the fact that the cameras are 2.0MP and 5.0MP respectively, the USB port is 3.0 and the HDMI is micro HDMI.
Other tablet standards include Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity, but this un-tablet tablet also includes a built in RJ-45 Gigabit Ethernet LAN port. It also features integrated 1.6W (2x 0.8W) stereo speakers with SoundAlive Technology, a headphone/mic combo jack and a microSD card slot.
