Announcing New Recording and Playback Products from Tascam

Tascam has been very busy behind the scenes, and have just announced a slew of new products, including a update to their flagship portable recorder, the DR-40 with the DR-44WL. While it boasts a handful of improvements, its most significant new feature is its integrated Wi-Fi compatibility, and the possibilities that brings to its functionality. As you might expect, this allows for wireless transport control via your laptop, iOS, or Android device and a free app. However the Wi-Fi functionality goes further than just control, providing you with the ability to wirelessly transfer files from the DR-44WL to your computer. This wireless transfer lets your move files without moving your mic placement, which will be a time saver on a shoot. Speaking of its mics, the DR-44WL sports a redesigned stereo XY microphone, and like its predecessor, gives you an additional 2 XLR inputs for up to 4 tracks of 24-bit/96kHz recording. It also includes a hot shoe adapter for use with your DSLR.

For those who like the Wi-Fi functionality of the DR-44WL but don’t need to track four channels at once, Tascam has announced a little-brother model, the DR-22WL. Giving you the same Wi-Fi control and file-transfer capabilities, the DR-22WL has a stereo XY condenser mic built in, but does not have the DR-44WL’s two extra XLR inputs. Also unique to the DR-22WL is its eight-position scene dial, which helps you dial settings for typical recording scenarios.

For studios, broadcast facilities, and houses of worship that record and play back from cassette, the 202mkVI shows Tascam’s continued commitment to making quality dual-cassette decks for professional applications, and includes such features as return to zero, 20 time A-B repeat, continuous recording, and more.

Last, but certainly not least, Tascam has announced two new USB interfaces with compatibility for iOS devices, as well as Mac and Windows computers. Both the two-channel US-2x2 and the four-channel  US-4x4 sport a similar ergonomic aluminum design, allowing for high visibility when placed on a desktop. Each model features Tascam’s Ultra-HDDA preamps, which boast impressively low noise specs and give you up to 57dB of gain.
