Building upon the success of the MiniFreak lineage, the Arturia MiniFreak 49 is a hybrid digital-analog synthesizer highly regarded as a performance instrument with sound-design capabilities. The MiniFreak 49 features two engines, six voices, 30+ oscillator modes, and analog filters, along with an updated preset library and MiniFreak V.
The MiniFreak 49 adds 49 full-size semi-weighted keys with mono aftertouch, FM modulation of the analog filter cutoff, Voice Panning, and an XYZ touch matrix that handles modulation assignment, preset browsing, real-time sound control, and live visual feedback on a single multitouch surface.
Endless Sound Palette
Two digital engines, six voices, 30+ oscillator modes from Virtual Analog to granular. Engine 2 can process Engine 1. Three shortcut buttons jump straight to synth, wavetable, or sample engines. Polyphonic analog filter per voicenow with audio-rate FM of the cutoff from either engine. Processing external audio is also possible.
Touch Your Sound
One multitouch surface, four modes. Visualizer: four reactive animations, chosen by preset. Modulation Matrix: direct, color-coded assignment. Preset Browsing: full pages of presets, swipe to navigate. Freak Control: Macros, Gate and Spice, plus bipolar and vector layouts premapped across the whole synth.
Movement in Stereo
Two LFOs with shape editing and randomization, a polyphonic cycling envelope at audio rate, and direct assignment across engines, filters, effects, and other modulators. Three effect slots, 13 algorithms each. Voice Panning spreads the six voices across the stereo field with selectable spread algorithms.

- Two LFOs with selectable waveforms, free or synced, custom shape editor, and direct on-matrix drawing. Polyphonic cycling envelope with Run and Loop modes, operating at audio rate. NEW Matrix allows for intuitive assignment across engines, filters, effects and other modulators—no scrolling, no submenus.
Effects and Stereo
- Three effect slots, 13 algorithms each. New Voice Panning places each voice individually in the stereo field. Stereo outputs.
Keybed and Controls
- 49 full-size semi-weighted keys with velocity and mono aftertouch. Arturia-designed keybed, shared with KeyLab mk3 49/61 Aluminum pitch and mod wheels. Shift layer for secondary functions across the panel.
Freak Control
- Shape your sound by touch. Macros, Gate and Spice, plus pre-mapped multitouch fields across engines, filters, effects and modulation. Latch any sweet spot you find.
Sequencer and Arpeggiator
- Sequencer with four modulation tracks. Arpeggiator with octave jumps, ratchets and repeats. Spice & Dice for on-the-fly variation and randomization of any pattern.
